It's almost hard to believe that not only will this lens not autofocus, the parts needed to repair it are not even available. So how can a customer be satisfied with that product quality and lack of manufacturer interest.

Lens Will Only Manual Focus

Have used it 4 times. Great shots very nice even Bokeh. Less expensive than others pro lens. Very sharp With a77 gives a 300mm 2.8 effective. Great for short to medium distance wildlife. Great for grand kids. Can stay far enough back to capture natural shots without a flash. Highly recommend.

Great lens, you will keep this lens for a long time.  It not everyday lens since it's heavy but it really make different when you using it.

I have been using sony for 5 years. This lens is one of the best lens in sony lenses family. Due to its internal focus system, it gives you the opportunity to get more close with the subject smoothly and quietly.

Worth every penny

This is a two part review - first, the lens is worth every penny. Very stout and fast. I don't think that its weight should be considered a con. It's to be expected of a lens of this construction and size. Bokeh is silky smooth, focus is fast and quiet, but that's all been said before here. Any owner will love this lens.[...]

Great lens, awesome IQ, Fast. My only problem has been with the focus range switch which is easily moved out of position while holding the lens.

One of the best telephotos.

Took this beast with me on a trip out West and it was terrific for its intended purpose. I was able to photograph animals and waterfalls perfectly and the results were really sharp and beautiful. The focusing motor is so quiet, you sometimes look down at the lens to see if its really working. It is a bit heavy but well worth it. Saw several of them on other Sonys but also Canon.

Using the Sony 70-200mm in the Field

One nice lens.  Sharp pictures.  I had the Sigma variant and it was not as sharp as this lens.  You will not be disappointed if you get this lens.

I was skeptical on the purchase at first for its steep price but when I tried it I was astounded. The lense was pretty quiet and quick to focus. Its rugged and heavy, its a great investment so far. I shoot athletic events and wildlife.
