Don't Underestimate This Gem

As one of the older XF lens designs, one's expectations might be overly, um, managed with regard to the image quality this 21mm equivalent lens can produce, especially on the 40MP X-T5 and X-H2 sensors. Well, unmanage them. This rather surprisingly small lens produces technically outstanding photos, with excellent color and contrast. The lens is well suited for real estate, urban, and landscape photography. It also seems to produce almost no side exaggeration distortions when photographing larger groups of people. All in all an excellent tool in one's kit.

Up to the Job

An excellent 21mm equivalent lens, ideally suited for real estate photography. Always a competent performer, it is fully up to the challenge of the latest 40MP Fuji sensors. Autofocus is plenty fast enough for its likely uses. A classic.

Beautiful Lens

Ehibits quality construction in every aspect of build. Wide angle lens achilles heel is flare and ghosting but this lens is good. make contrasty images that have the 3d look. Very sharp corner to corner. Has aperature ring that is click stopped and moves quite smoothly. Comes with a bag that is kind of a wrap as it has a 5.75" inch flap that wraps around the bag of the same dimension. Bag is over sized for easy acess and extra padding. I prefer this to the bags with a draw string as it is easier to acess the lens. Both caps and hood included also. Very impressive lens.

Wide angle with very little distortion

I've used this lens on an X-Pro1 and XT-2... the field of view is great for street photography, and (of course) architecture. I'm pretty picky about architecture shots, and this lens needs virtually no correction to make a building look perfect. Also great for those sweeping landscape vistas when you just can't move back any further. I highly recommend this lens.

Light, Fast, Sharp Wide Angle Fuji Lens

I have the 10-24 zoom lens but at f4 doesn't do well in astrophotography. While the 14mm isn't as wide as I wanted, at f2.8 with a good manual focus and good recommendations for astrophotography, I gave it a try. It is an excellent lens. Sharp edge to edge (even in RAW). In addition to astrophotography, I carry as a street lens and as part of my small kit. It's a great little lens.

Small, light, sharp. Great for travel

My XF10-24 was in for repair and I had no wide angle option for my vacation, so I decided to try the 14mm as a small alternative and as a nice complement to my 18-55. I kind of knew what to expect from reading all of the reviews and seeing great photos shot with this lens but I have to say it performed admirably. My reason for getting it was primarily for travel due to its small size but I found that I liked it so much I actually sold my 10-24 to finance other gear. I may regret that some day but for now the 14 does the job. From a handling aspect I liked the marked aperture ring, as opposed to the unmarked one on the 10-24 (why?), and the focusing clutch. The close focusing ability and sharpness right from the get-go at f2.8 makes this lens useful as a walk around, especially in an urban environment. At least 60% of my photos from a recent trip were shot with the 14 and my 35 f1.4 and 18-55 rounded out the rest. Coupled with an X-T10, it made for a very compact travel setup that yielded great results. Being a prime lens there is that compromise on versatility compared to a zoom. But the prime lends itself to thinking a bit more about composition and pre-visualizing angles of view. I find the 21mm equivalent focal length offers that wide-angle view without getting too carried away. As an old film photographer I find it is a classic view.

Excellent 21mm Equiv Lens

Optically very good. Well built, but wish the aperture ring was a bit stiffer. This seems to be an issue with a lot of the Fuji lenses. Would rate it 4-1/2 stars. If aperture ring had been a bit tighter, would have given it 5 stars. Overall, very happy with the lens though.

Easily my favorite lens right now

Easily my favorite lens right now. Fast focus, sharp, and I love the perspective. Seems to be just the right amount of "wideness" for me. I like a lens that has a "voice" and this one really does for me.

The best --the reason for Fuji cameras

This lens, along with the Fujinon 35 mm lens, are the reason this camera is unexcelled for landacape pictures and excellent for everything else. The lack of any visable distortion and the complete sharpness from edge to edge mean that photographs don't look like photographs -- they look relaxed and natural, like seeing the world. It's expensive and a bit cumbersome but absolutely worth it. Don't bother with the 18mm lens; it lacks this quality.

YOW!

Fujifilm continues to amaze me. I compared this little jewel, mounted on my X-E2 to my Nikon 14-24mm f2.8, mounted on my D600 and even though the Nikon lens is considered by many the the best super-wide lens (zoom or prime) and it was shot on a 24mp full-frame body, in every comparison shot the fujifilm 14mm equaled or toped the Nikon and of course the 14mm is a fraction of the size and weight of the monster Nikon. This beauty is ultra-sharp from corner to corner and the rendering is sublime.

Corner-to-corner sharpness

Great lens, corner to corner sharpness, no distortion and excellent clutch to switch from automatic to manual focus. The only nitpick is that the f-stops ring could use a bit more drag: currently is to easy to bump it out of place.

Great lens

I don't shoot a lot of very wide angle; it is just not my style. However, I have fallen in love with this lens. Sharp, no distortion that I can see, great color. I am currently using this lens to document the little city I live in, Falls Church, VA before it is completely changed by the forces of development.

another winner from Fuji

This is my second lens for my X-e1, after the wonderful 18-55mm zoom. It's sharp, almost a given with Fuji lenses I think, and the distortion, considering its a 14mm lens is quite minimal. I love the new sliding auto/manual focus ring and the hyper focus scale makes street photography easer. I've only had this lens for a week but its clearly a winner is the Fuji X line.

another great Fuji lens

I've only had this lens one week but so far it is living up to Fuji's reputation of making great lenses. Sharp, sure, distoration? yeah a bit but not bad at all considering it's a 14mm lens.
