The RF-S18-45 is good lens for everyday photography. This lens is very sharp, has good IS, and a decent AF system. It isn't the brightest lens, but it is small and light compared to brighter lenses and its older EF-S equivalent.

Just got this lense when the RF-S18-45mm Mirrorless Camera came with it. Its definitely more hefty and your basic selfi stick mount maybe overweight. if mounted on a small stick and leaned forward a bit it will fall. The Lense is bigger too so should bring more clarity to media. definitely better then the basic lenses but also doesn't have as much zoom. This is ideal for closeups or objects 5-10 feet away. Alternatively maybe good for landscape style photos. I got it for documenting my work and analysis.

Like a previous reviewer I was confused about the lens shooting position message. I was coming from a Sony A6000 where the stock lens would just boot up and be ready to shoot. On this lens, you have to turn the lens until it reaches the 18mm position and then it's ready to shoot. Took me one google search to figure it out, so I have no clue why he complained about trying to figure it out for two hours. Anyway, I hope this helps out some other beginners!

I purchased the R7 with the 18 to 45 MM lens from Walmart. This is my fith Canon camera. It is the first mirrorless Canon. I have had it for two days and have yet to take a single picture because the setting says I need to change the shooting position. I have research for two hours and cannot find out how to fix this stupidity. There is a setting on some lenses, but not on the 18 to 45 mm that came with the camera, NOT A SINGLE PHOTO!

Awesome kit lens, great for beginners. This was my first lens and it introduced me to a world of landscape photography. I definitely recommend for aspiring photographers!

How does the RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens stand out in the crowded field of camera lenses This innovative lens, part of our new RF-S line, is designed specifically for smaller APS-C sensors, and when paired with a full-frame EOS R camera, it automatically enables the 1.6x crop mode.
This compact, lightweight lens offers a versatile zoom range (35mm equivalent - 29-72mm coverage), making it an ideal choice for everyday use. Its clever lens retraction mechanism and compact size ensure it fits easily into your camera bag, ready to capture life's spontaneous moments.
