Product Quality and Professional Service

I have had three Cannon Rebel, first was 35 mm film, Second is Cannon Rebel DSLR and now the new Mirror less D100. This lens is a replacement for the DLSR. The original ceased to auto focus. Works perfectly. Thanks Canon, for the professional quality products and services since 1996. rea

My Wide Variety Lens

I really love this lens, and I use it for a wide variety of shooting options. On Easter Day, I couldn't have shot my family portraits without this lens. I currently own a Telephoto Lens EFS 55-250, one Prime Lens EF 50mm 1.4, and The EFS 18-55 lens. I couldn't use The Telephoto Lens, and The Prime Lens posed to many challenges for wide portraits. I am so happy with this lens. It is the one lens I used the most. At a price of 199.99 it was the least expensive out of the lens that I currently own. I highly recommend this compact lens for any amateur, to intermediate photographer who wants to grab one lens and go.

Better than my first one

I purchased this to replace original kit lens. My first one was not a version II. Autofocus quit working on original lens. Not sure what all the differences are (if any) but this one does seem to be built a little better (focus ring seems tighter). Nicer lens cap (pinch-type). It'll do until I save enough for the 17-55 2.8 is.

Compatibility

This Lens will fit any Canon DSLR with a compct sensor and a white dot lens positioning marking on the lens mount. This includes all recent Rebel models and many recent full frame models. It is a good choice if you are not a hard-knock professional, but want a good all-purpose and lightweight lens. It will not break yur neck, and the photos are excellent.

Great Walk-Around Lens

I use it where my prime lenses don't cover. It is good at most lengths and does well from the 18 to 40 area. I don't use it all the time because I have a good selection of primes, but it does help me stay prepared for anything. I shoot cars exclusivly and it helps me shoot interiors, with and without flash.

This lens replaced my origional lens

This lens was a direct replacement for my broken factory lens on my canon 20D, and it works perfectly. I shopped around for the best price, and Adorama was the one. received my lens in a couple of days, and my camera was back in action.

Used mainly for wedding photography

I use the lense in wedding photography. It is light weight and dependable. Affordable wide angle for my purposes. Stabilizer feature very important. Events happen very fast at weddings and the lense will give a great picture.

Love this product

This lens is a good starter for any beginnin photographer. It is not durable so don't drop it buying a camera caring case is cheaper than buying a new lens. The product does well in most cases except night photos.it is a good beginning lens, if you master this then move on.

Would buy this product anytime

I have been using Canon equipment since 1968..My first CanonFT still works. This product seems to be in the best tradition of Canon. I use the lens a lot for tabletop photography for increased depth of field and working at a confortable distance from the subjects or products.

Great little lens for the price

Its a great kit lens and a really good price. I bought it used at Adorama and didn't know what to expect. The salesman was very helpful, and even though I was looking at this one and another slightly more expensive one, he convinced me to buy this one. I felt like he really wanted me to have a good experience and wasn't just after the money. Thanks Adorama!

Great lens for a great price...

This is a great all around lens. It gives you flexibility for most situations you'll encounter in an average day. Adequate in low light situations, it really excels for outdoor shooting. The perfect lens for the beginning photographer, yet high enough in optic quality for the enthusiast or semi-pro photographer.

Good General-Purpose Lens

Another great EF-S lens.. This seems to be the next version of the old 18-55mm EF-S lens that came in so many bundles, and makes a good replacement for that aging lens you might've had for years and years that's finally grown fungus or decided to give you Error 99. I use it for all my general-purpose needs; self-portraits on a tripod, close photography bordering on macro work (note that the minimum focal range is just under a foot), and everything that doesn't require a more specialized lens like the 50mm f1.8 or 75-300mm zoom. I don't entirely understand why Canon had to stablize this lens, however. I see little need for stablization in such a short lens. Then again, in low light I'm more likely to pull out a faster lens or a flash, while other photographers might try to "stick it out" with this lens. That having been said, this is a great general-purpose lens, and excellent for when you have to be in fairly close quarters with your subject.

Have only had the chance to use the lens a few times but have been happy with it so far. Can't beat the price but still thinking I should of waited and saved up for a faster lens.

Great pictures in low light, hand held

By J

This lens filled a hole in my lens collection that I did not know I had. The IS (image stabilization) really allows me to take shots with the shutter speed of 1/20. And with a aperture of 5.6 or so, you get a very decent amount of depth of field (area in focus). You would be able to get a similar amount of light with a high speed lens (F 1.8) at a shutter speed you can hand hold, but your DoF would be very shallow. I am very happy with this lens and it is a great value.

Become a master of your craft with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens, a high-quality, durable, and versatile tool that will elevate your photography to new heights. This advanced lens is specifically engineered for APS-C-format Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs, providing a 28.8-88mm equivalent focal length range. This wide range allows for exceptional flexibility, enabling you to capture everything from expansive landscapes to intimate portraits with precision and clarity.

The lens features a singular aspherical element that expertly controls spherical aberrations and distortion, delivering unparalleled sharpness across the entire zoom range. The Super Spectra coating battles against ghosting and flare, ensuring vivid contrast and color accuracy, even in challenging lighting conditions.

Equipped with an Optical Image Stabilizer, the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens reduces the impact of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops. This feature is invaluable when capturing memories in low-light settings or using slower shutter speeds, guaranteeing sharp, steady shots every time.

The intricate design of this lens, comprising 11 elements in 9 groups, harnesses the power of an aspherical lens element for exceptional image quality. The circular aperture enhances the depth of your shots by rendering sublime out-of-focus backgrounds.

Experience autofocus like never before with the Micro Motor autofocus system. This feature ensures precise and swift focusing, with a dedicated AF/MF switch for seamless transitioning when manual touch is required.

Embrace the beauty of close-up photography with a minimum focusing distance of 9.8" throughout its zoom range, allowing you to capture intricate details with precision. The lens's rounded six-blade diaphragm ensures a pleasing out-of-focus quality, perfect for emphasizing subjects using shallow depth of field or selective focus techniques.
