Tamron does it again. I use this lens on my Nikon D750 for interiors and exteriors in architectural work. It is a perfect piece of equipment for eliminating distortion, and the build quality is always tops with Tamron. I chose the 1.8 for the I S features which is not on the 1.4 version. Auto focus was dead-on right out of the box, no fine tuning needed. This is my 3rd Tamron lens, ( 35mm 1.8, 85 mm 1.8, and 70 - 300 4.5 zoom). My only complaint is wishing Tamron had a 30 mm shift lens for architecture. I am not a brand guy until it comes to Tamron. Pony up with the shift lens Tamron!!

I would definitely recommend this lens. It takes sharp and high quality photos. It has a sturdy construction while remaining light weight. For the price, it really can't be beat.

Bought this lens for a wedding and used it straight of the box with no issues. Worked as manufacturer said it would.

This lens is a great all around lens. Excellent price. Considered the canon 35 1.8 but couldn’t justify the price difference. Sharp and fast!

Absolutely stunning lens! I think I'm a Tamron convert. I shoot family photos, weddings and quinceañeras and lugging the 24-70 and 70-200 gets tiresome. I bought this 35mm to try out their primes and I'm loving it. Tack sharp, helpful VC and amazing image quality. I'll be buying the 85mm later this year

This is my second Tamron lens and first prime Tamron. My copy turned out very good. Little or no distortion or aberration, very precise sharpness. I like the feel of the f-stop ring. Good build quality and should last a life time.I’ve got Zeiss, Canon, Fuji and Nikkor lens and this Tamron is in the same class as the premium glass primes.I’ve bought a lot of gear from B&H over the years and no complaints at all. I’m now trying some gear from Adorama and I highly recommend them as well.Buy your gear from reputable vendors and be assured you can exchange or get a refund if the performance of the product is not what you expected.Would have given this a 5 star, but I don’t rate a 5 star until I’ve used the lens for a year or two, get some large prints, and do a detailed comparison. You will not be disappointed with this lens!

The first event i did with this lens was nothing short of amazing. I was pleasantly surprised with how much brighter and sharper this lens was wide open, than my 2.8 lenses which made shooting at the dimly lit venues a breeze. The only thing that bothered me was that it focuses slightly slower than my canon lenses. No regrets, i was sold with the image quality alone!

I read a lot of reviews that this lens was more than worth it, and I'm honestly still blown away. It's incredibly sharp, has surprisingly good color rendition, and the VC makes it incredibly versatile for both stills and video. Could not be happier!

This lens handles superbly and balances perfectly on my 5D MarkII. Exceptionally sharp, vibrant color. Today's field trip in the snow -- no CA, no flare, without having to use a polarizer. You can't go wrong with this one. I traded an older EF 50mm f1.4 and 24 mm f2.8 for this one and would do it again in a minute after seeing the performance of this Tamron. The Adorama trade-in system was fast and fair. Great job, folks.

This lens is perfect for tight spots when you are trying to get the whole picture. Not to mention it is built really well and takes tack sharp images. I would defiantly recommend it!

I've had this lens for about 1.5 years. It is my most often used lens with my Nikon D750. The 35 mm focal length on a full frame camera gives me a wide enough field of view for landscape and general photography, but with a 1.8 maximum aperture I can still do portraits with a shallow depth of field. This lens is very sharp on my camera. Autofocus is accurate and required no microadjustment for me. Also the combination of f/1.8 and vibration reduction mean that I can often do handheld night shots without having to carry along a tripod. Another welcome bonus is the close focusing distance which works great for flower shots. The only downside I can think of is that it is not a particularly light lens - it is, for example, heavier than 24-85 zoom, but the image quality more than makes up for it. Overall, this is a very versatile lens and I recommend it.

I have used this lens non-stop since purchasing it from Adorama a few weeks ago. It has become my go-to lens for portraiture of all times from weddings, family, engagements. This lens provide absolute quality in the build, the images, and all around performance. I highly recommend this lens for photogs who are in a tight budget and definitely at the same level as the Sigma art series.

I wanted a 35mm for weddings, newborn sessions, etc. I debated between the 35mm Sigma Art 1.4 and the Tamron. The Sigma had great reviews too but I wanted image stabilization. I used the lens during a recent trip and received great reviews on all the photos. I also have the Tamron 90SP macro and love it. Tamron has really stepped up. Well done!

It's an awesome lens! The reason I didn't give five stars was a focus issue, it tends to hunt in low light situations. I hope it is just my copy.

I had a Sigma 35mm Art a while back and after using this lens for a couple weeks now, I consider the Tamron very neatly just as good while being less $! The Sig does have slightly prettier bokeh and f1.4 but the Tammy offers vibration reduction and weather sealing. With that in mind, I would honestly say you get a bit more for the money with the Tamron.

This is a great 35mm lens that is equal if not better than the Nikon 35mm 1.4 lens, which has a front focusing issue and even better than the Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens. Very good solid build that doesn't stand out as a third-party lens. I am happy with my purchase and it has served me well across three continents.

I recently purchased this lens for Nikon D750. It is sharp wide open. While It is not a cheap lens, combination of having a wide aperture, weather resistance, amazing close focusing distance, Vibration Control, and beautiful star burst make it a GREAT lens.

I love this lens so much. I spent a few days testing everything it had to offer and I am very happy with my purchase. It's sharp wide open, the VC allows for a very low shutter speed, and it's almost a macro. I was taking pictures of things that were so close they were inside the lens hood.

I bought the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC about a month ago. I was considering this lens, the Nikon 35mm AF-S f/1.4 ED and the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 HSM A. DXOmark rated both the Sigma and the Tamron above the much more expensive Nikon lens, and also the Zeiss. I read reviews for months, and looked at the images others had taken with all the lenses. Although I was originally a Nikon lens purist, the results as well as the price could not compete, so I chose a third party lens over Nikon. I like the weight of the Tamron, and the solid feel. The manual focus is tight, you know it isn't going to wander. That is important to me because I shoot a lot of landscapes. I shot several test shots indoors, under a mixture of incandescent and fluorescent, WB set on "cloudy" on my D750, and the color and detail were excellent. Also, hand held shots at speeds under 1/50 were still very crisp. This is a definite improvement over my old Nikkor 35mm f/2 D lens, and I have taken some great shots with that tiny little lens. I would recommend this lens without any hesitation.

The Adorama Learning Center is bringing you coverage from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center; we'll be highlighting the best from the show floor. This morning's coverage includes highlights from the Leica, Tamron, Sony, and Olympus booths.
Tamron first introduced its SP (Super Performance) series of lenses in 1979. Since then, the SP lenses have undergone many changes throughout the years. The first introductions in the recently updated series are two pro-level prime lenses that are co...

Before you capture your next stunning photograph, consider the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon F-a pinnacle of optical engineering, designed for the discerning photographer who demands high-quality, versatile, and reliable performance. This advanced lens is a testament to Tamron's commitment to innovation, offering an exceptional blend of clarity, precision, and stability.
Crafted with a sophisticated 10-element, 9-group construction, this lens features two molded glass aspherical elements and one LD (Low Dispersion) element, alongside one XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) element. These premium components work in harmony to correct field curvature and ensure the planarity of the image plane. The result is an outstanding resolution and uniformity across the field, with high-fidelity point spread reproducibility.
The SP 35mm F/1.8 Di VC USD Lens is engineered to minimize sagittal comatic flare, which is particularly beneficial for night scenes, where point light sources can induce comet tail-like blurs. Additionally, the LD and XLD glass elements masterfully compensate for chromatic aberrations, delivering crystal-clear images without any residual color fringing.
With a 35mm focal length and a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture, this lens is ideal for full-frame DSLR cameras. The aperture not only contributes to superb optical performance but also allows for a minimized closest shooting distance and the integration of Vibration Compensation (VC) technology-all within a reasonably-sized barrel for comfortable handling.
The VC feature is indispensable in the era of high-pixel-density cameras, offering freedom in handheld shooting in low light conditions by effectively canceling camera shake. This lens boasts a Minimum Object Distance (MOD) of just 7.9 inches, providing a magnification ratio of 1:2.5. This close-focusing capability, akin to a macro lens, allows for breathtaking close-up pictures with a beautifully blurred background (bokeh), thus expanding the scope of photographic opportunities.
Tamron's proprietary Floating System ensures optimal imaging performance at any range, from the closest to normal shooting distances. The lens also maintains optimal relative illumination, avoiding the vignetting effect that can occur with fast-aperture lenses, ensuring even light distribution across the entire field.
The lens is treated with eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coatings, which provide an outstanding anti-reflection effect for maximum light transmission. These coatings reduce internal reflections that cause ghosting and flare, allowing for flawless, crystal-clear images.
Autofocus is swift and silent, thanks to the USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor, which delivers precise focusing with high torque and responsiveness. Full-time Manual Focus override is available, allowing for manual focus adjustments without the need to switch between AF and MF modes.
A fluorine coating on the front element repels water and fingerprints, facilitating easy cleaning and maintaining the lens's effectiveness over time. The moisture-resistant construction provides an additional layer of protection when shooting in adverse weather conditions.
The 9-blade diaphragm creates a nearly circular opening, even when stopped down, enhancing the bokeh effect and ensuring that the background blur is beautifully rendered without undesirable shapes.
This lens is compatible with Nikon DSLR cameras and comes with SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.0, advanced editing software that allows for precise correction of various aberrations based on the optical design data of the lens. Shooting in RAW enables the creation of stringent and high-fidelity image quality, ensuring that your photographs meet the highest standards of professional photography.
