I had a hand in the development of the Fujifilm S3 UVIR, the IS-Pro and IS-1 UVIR cameras, and in the few short weeks that I've had the X-T1, I discovered that it has the same capabilities as those previous editions of UVIR cameras from Fujifilm. However, like the previous versions, it would be a mistake for any user in the Forensic world to not purchase the full line of available UV-IR filters from Peca Products as a compliment for the Fujifilm X-T1. While the B+W 092, 093 and 098 that comes with the forensic kit work great, they are not sufficient in providing the user with the full capabilities of this camera in the Forensic arena. As well, a good ALS is still needed. In my testing I have found the X-T1 quite capable with questioned documents (altered, faded, burned), biological fluids (blood, saliva, semen), and for bodily injuries. As for the artistic photographer, it performs exceptionally for those who want to try infrared photography as an alternative means of expression. I wouldn't recommend purchasing all eight Peca Products IR filters for artistic purposes, but perhaps the Peca 902, 904, 910 and 914 might be the ones to have in an ultimate collection. If you want to get one or two, I would recommend the 910 or 914 and the 902. - Michael J. Brooks (Retired FBI Academy Instructor of Scientific & Technical Photography)

I have been shooting with Fujifilm gear for about four years now, and for a while, I was continuing to use Nikon DSLR equipment as well, but the images and the feel of quality that the the Fuji X system has, is very seductive and the madness of the temptation of every new piece of gear that came along with two systems, caused me to say goodbye to Nikon and extra bulk and weight that went with it. The shooting experience of the X-T1 is sheer pleasure. The manual controls that can be seen and changed so easily are a big plus for me and the Fujinon lenses are superb. If you do plan to use this camera with any of the larger Fujinon lenses, I would highly recommend the MHG-XT Hand Grip. This makes two X-T1's that I have in my kit. (Okay, I admit it...I'm Fuji Fan Boy)

Great camera, but it looks like the sale is over. I got mine for ($) including the ($) 35mm lens, now it is ($) just for the camera! Lesson: wait for the sale to reappear. But the camera is tons of fun, I love all the manual controls, and 16mp is more than enough for what I do (online viewing, prints up to maybe 16x20). One warning is that this is not a good camera for sports or wildlife, I have found the focusing system is not up to that (although, caveat to the caveat, I don't have the best Fuji lenses).

The things I really, really like about the Fujifilm X-T1: The ootc jpeg colors and IQ, plus still having availability to RAW files. The overall build quality - weather resistance, metal body. Fujifilm offers many lenses with WR for their APS-C sensor bodies (which many other manufacturers do not) to provide a compete weather resistant package. Fast, highly accurate, and silent auto focus with good continuous AF tracking. Responsive EVF that shows the effect of changes in aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, and film simulation. As a result I've been more deliberate in my picture taking, which has reduced my number of shutter clicks and reduced my post processing time.

Excellent camera. I am a former Fuji X100S user looking for interchangeable lenses and this xt1 was an excellent price.

though $ more just for the looks..this camera definitely deserves that. When I was researching for a handy cam with bigger sensor, I was told by my friend to look at fuji which had a great deal running , which matched my budget. Happily bought this and testing out with cheap manual lenses. Great color tones and awesome image quality. My daughter who is 9 now, is also enjoying the cam, as the she is playing around with all the controls to see the different image output. overall, nice and happy to have this camera. Still have a secret desire to get Xpro-2, but can't afford now!

This camera gives me hope for taking photography seriously again. I'm an old man (in relative terms) who loved the photographic process from beginning to end. I formulated my chemicals in both B&W and color processes. My cameras were spare, one or two lenses for 35mm, 120mm and 4X5 inch formats. Digital photography ruined what I loved most about the process...because it is a process and not hit or miss casting about. I could not tolerate point and shoot methods. This camera gives me choices for analog settings and for choosing film types with their corresponding ASAs. When I made a rich, saturated color exposure with this camera I had to work the anger out after 35 years and try to let joy back in.

Fuji X-T1 is a great camera, and I took it with me to Alaska. It works great and the picture quality is very good. I moved from a DSLR system because mirrorless cameras are just a delight to use, and X-T1 is one of the best. Somehow during the shipment the extra battery was left out so it was delivered at a later date. Otherwise shopping with Adorama was a great experience.

I owned both the X-E1 and XE -2 and loved the size and ergonomics. I was a little apprehensive about the size and feel of the X-T1 but I really like the grip and the size does not bother me. We all know his is a great camera. The selector buttons on the back have a different and cheaper feel but that is a function of the weather sealing. I also find myself hitting the function button on the front of the camera by accident. I love the performance and the grip allows me to reach for the camera and pick it up quickly in the correct orientation.

I was a life long nikon shooter. Unfortunately I injured my back and had to find a lighter kit. Every lens I have shot with has been very good to incredible. The prices are very good and the build is great. Raw files are good but jpegs are incredible. I shoot raw+jpeg just incase I miss exposure. I've used it to do protraits, combat sports, and weddings. AF is very good and MF is easy with focus assistance. Not much you can't do with this camera. Only real gripe is not being able to shoot flash while in burst mode.

The Fuji XT combines the manual plus automatic features that I desire. It has features that I don't use-----yet. My wife and I have three XT-1's -why anyone would pick a dslr or a competitors mirror less exceeds the capacity of my IQ.

If you really like the classic photography, and really enjoy the manual mode. This is a very good option for you. I bought this because I loved it by the first time, because a friend let me use his. Now I think I already displace my other camera because of this one. The colour, the quality of each detail, and of course the weather sealed is a huge problem. Highly recommended if you are looking for something very special and unique.

The body is light, much lighter than the D3 and D300 it replaced. Overall image quality is fantastic with very little post-processing necessary. The AF is as expected, differing depending on the lens used.

Combined with studying Tony Northrup's XT1 starter video i was able to learn the camera's features quickly. It has some really neat functions like double exposure and panorama, and the quick menu is very handy. The camera itself is so ligjht compared to my DSLR it is easy to travel with. Live view for instant feedback is great. The camera bundle from Adorama was a great starter kit! One beware: i tried using an f mount adapter with a Nikon kit lens and discovered you cant adjust it from f22, without a "hack", so i ended up getting a fuji lens.

I sold my Fujifilm X100S and bought this X-T1. I was sick of waiting for Fujifilm's next-gen sensor/processor body and their current- gen sensor/processor combo isn't that bad, so I picked this up as a bridge camera. I really wanted to start using Fuji's lenses and this body was currently the best option. This camera, like the X100S, captures fantastic images the IQ is amazing. You just have to remember that it isn't "DSLR Fast". That's fine for me because I'm a more deliberate photographer and at least 90% of my shoots are planned, staged or prepared for in advance. Now having said that this isn't a slow camera, you can get most of the shots you want with it. Another big plus is, like the X100S the X-T1 is great in Low Light. I guess even better because you can use Fuji's awesome fast primes.

The X-T1 is an amazing camera. The only issue was the grip for me. I added a Lensmate thumb grip to the hotshoe, it helped, but still felt like I needed more. The X-T1 battery grip might add something for portraits, but I got this camera to NOT be my Canon 5D Mark III. Don't want to add too much to it. That said, this grip did not add much weight and made it PERFECT for what I needed. I wear a 2XL glove. Hands big enough to palm a basketball with ease. Adding this large grip is just what the doctor ordered. The other bonus is the arca swiss plate built in. Worth the cost to me. Fujifilm is making some great products.

The camera performance is very nice and it is a good size to carry about. I took a short trip which was the first time that I had an opportunity to really use it for an extended period. I liked the results. I didn't have grand expectations regarding the battery performance to begin with, but I was surprised and disappointed that I got only 75 shots on the first battery. I was using the view finder rather than back screen to compose shots, no video, no wireless, turned off everything that was optional. This was a laid back, casual shooting day not a sporting event. Replaced the battery with a fresh, charged one and had the same experience with getting a total of 149 shots on two batteries over the span of two days. I had hopes that the X-T1 would be lighter, smaller camera to use for travel but the battery performance makes it a brick. Disappointing.

After using Nikons for 25 years. It took me 2 days to get use to the EVF. Now that I understand how it works. I really like it. Camera ergonomics. Has the handling qualities of the OM-1 and Leica M3. I paired the camera to the 55-200mm Lens. Only faults so far, battery life (get a spare). Wi-Fi to PC. Will not connect. Cannot change in camera password for designated PC.

The image quality from the X-T1 is awesome. You rarely need to shoot RAW because the jpegs are so good. I compared the IQ against my Nikon D800, and the D800 only has a slight edge in terms of color and sharpness. With little post-processing, the X-T1 can produce excellent pictures that are compatible to the D800. If I have one complaint, it would the fact that EVF doesn't work well with polarized sun shades. In terms of portability, practical features, and built quality, the X-T1 is ahead of the D800 by decades. If IQ and portability are important to you, the X-T1 is a no brainer.

There are plenty of in-depth online reviews of this camera, so I won't go into that level of detail. I own an X100 and an X-Pro1 and I am loving this new X-T1. The EVF is very good. I originally bought the Pro1 because I wanted an OVF but with the 18-55 lens, I found myself using the EVF most of the time anyway. I had a hard time seeing the EVF. I needed a diopter lens to see clearly, but I had to choose between seeing data like f-stop & shutter speed, or the scene I was photographing. A single diopter didn't allow me to see both clearly. No such problem on the T1. The EVF on the T1 is considerably brighter and easier to see in the sunlight. The T1 just seems to feel better in my hand than the Pro1. And I appreciate having so many external controls. One aspect I like very much is that you can see how the exposure compensation dial will affect the exposure interactively when you're in P, A, or S mode. If you're in M mode, you can also see how changing the shutter speed or aperture will affect the exposure. This is a great general walkabout camera and also very good for events. In my opinion, it is best suited to users who understand how to use the external controls effectively and shoot deliberately.

It's all there with this camera. Total control over everything. I love everything about it and the whole Fuji x mount system. The images are superb. Coupled with the 56mm F1.2 it excels. The one and only complaint I do have is the function buttons in the back surrounding the menu button are way too small and hard to push. Luckily there's a whole bunch of buttons that you can customize. Amazing product. I own the X100S as well and talk about the dynamic duo.

Fujifilm X-T1
The Fujifilm X-T1 may look a lot like a classic film SLR camera, but it is, in fact, a state-of-the-art digital photography powerhouse. The latest and most advanced addition to the Fujifilm X lineup of mirrorless interchangeable-lens compact digital cameras, the X-T1 boasts an ultra-high-resolution Electronic Viewfinder in what looks like an optical viewfinder housing, and the dials on the top of the camera give you quick access to shutter speed, exposure compensation and ISO controls without the need to burrow through menus.
Aperture is controlled via an aperture ring on the lens, just like the good old days. But for the digital age there is an SD card slot, and the camera is capable of shooting RAW and JPEG images. At a resolution of 2.36 Million dots, the EVF should give a fine enough image to satisfy many of those who were expecting an optical finder. The Fujfilm X-T1 features an eye-level electronic viewfinder, a 16MP APS X-Trans II sensor, a weather-sealed body, and knobs and buttons controlling its basic exposure functions. The camera simultaneously looks retro while being completely functional and ergonomically laid out. The X-T1 is targeted at both advanced amateurs and professional photographers who need to travel light.
Rugged features:
75 points of weather sealing
Splashproof
Dust resistant
Freezeproof to -14 degrees F
Tempered Glass LCD Monitor
The camera is said to be fast, with a shutter lag time that's claimed to be 0.05 seconds, which is for all intents and purposes, instantaneous. Startup time is half a second. The Fujifilm X-T1 is the first X-series camera to have an optional vertical grip. The grip, along with the camera's magnesium alloy body and several soon-to-be-announced lenses, are ruggedized against inclement weather. (The current 18-55mm kit lens, however, is not weather-resistant.)
The Fujifilm X-T1 offers 10 film simulation modes that mimic classic Fujifilm emulsions such as Provia, Velvia, Astia, and others. Focus highlight peaking, digital split image, and electronic level, multiple exposure, release and focus priority settings, and dynamic range are among its many photography functions.
