Fantastic very high quality product. If you are into having "Made In America* Products because you believe every MIA product is the highest quality on the planet then you absolutely won't be disappointed here in the slightest. This thing is solid. Every thing is machined well and fit together just good. There is no play once it's locked down. However one reviewer stated that when you lock it down it pushes off level a little bit. This is true, but it's minimal and easy to compensate for. Both of my ball heads do it too. It's not an end of the world your never going to get anything level type of issue. This leveling base does it's job very well. It's also light and relatively low profile so it doesn't add a ton of extra height to your tripod setup.

Does exactly what is says it can do and reliably. One thing to think about that I didn't before purchasing is how far this base can level. You may have an incline that is far steeper than this base can level with all your legs fully out so you will still have to open and close legs to get close to level then use the base to fully level your camera out. Acratech does make a ball head that doubles as a leveling base by inverting it. It can level at almost any angle. It is more expensive but if you don't want to have to adjust your tripod legs AND the leveling base then I would go with the ball head option for more convenience and speed . Other than that this thing works perfectly. I do wish it had a friction knob like higher end ball heads have so you can set the friction where it will move but not super easily so I can adjust the base without the base being in full flop mode. You can just slightly loosen the single knob to get the same effect but there is a very small margin where it will work like a second properly set friction knob.

You need to have a level camera on a level base if you are doing panorama photograpy. Merely leveing the camera, particularly if you have a ball head, will not insure a level pano. This leveling base is quick and easy to use. Mount leveling base on the tripod and mount the ball-head to the leveling base. Level the base then level the camera.for level panning.

With all the great reviews all over the web, I thought I'd found a winner, but the locking mechanism on this leveling base is poorly-engineered. When you tighten the knob, it forces the base out of level, defeating the one, single purpose this device has. You can discount a lot of reviews as paid promotion, and a lot as people who wouldn't know which side of the thing is up let alone whether it was good or bad, and, of course, I could have gotten a bad copy, but, I did find a reference to a similar comment after I looked harder once I encountered the problem.

I use it under a Gimbal and wanted to keep it light (gimbal is heavy) very useful. Set the legs fairly level, level with the Acratech, mount gimbal and go; works great and now Panning is in level.

I've always thought a tripod that swivels with a level on the head was enough for landscapes...this leveling base changed my mind! Easy to use, but oh what a difference! Now I can even stitch really wide landscapes together without a lot of juggling and making do. An excellent but expensive product that is worth the money once you make the plunge.

I was in need of an easy leveling device after fumbling with my tripod and a spirit level to get the tripod head horizontal, which was time consuming. This device is for me the best choice I could find on the market; it is easy to mount, easy to adjust and to trust. I can’t do without it anymore. Be careful not to loosen the main knob more than a fraction of a turn from firmly tight to be able to control the friction between jaw and ball head when adjusting the leveling base.

I bought this to put under my gimbal head so I could nice level shots when on unlevel ground. It's very well made and very light weight. I plan on buying another one and a ball head from Acratech.
