I own this because I also own an AJA Cion and it is necessary to get the footage from the Pak media to the computer. The device reads automatically on a PC or MAC, but will not show up in your drive list without a Pak media card or if the card is empty. There must be something on the card for it to be recognized and for the reader to show up as a drive. The transfer speeds on USB 3.1 gen 2 are OK, but not as fast as they should be for the SLC SSD's that are in the Pak media but, the USB is still faster than the thunderbolt connection of the reader. Like the title states, it works well and is necessary, but could be a lot better, considering the price.

Ki Pro Quad Pak SSDs
AJA's Pak Dock for Ki Pro Quad Pak SSDs transfers the video data from an AJA Pak SSD to a computer. The SSD inserts into the Dock and the Dock outputs to a computer via a Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 connection. Pak SSDs are high-capacity drives for recording 4K, 2K and HD video on AJA's Ki Pro Quad recorder.
