Discover the superior quality of the Archival Methods Museum Board, meticulously crafted from 100% pure cotton fiber. This Polar White Museum Board exudes a cool tone with a subtle blue shift, making it an ideal choice for professional presentations and displays.
Designed with a focus on longevity, this museum board is acid-free and lignin-free, incorporating alkaline or neutral sizing for added durability. Each board is buffered with calcium carbonate, providing a robust shield against the damaging effects of acid migration from matted works and environmental pollutants. This protective feature ensures the board maintains its pH balance, preventing it from becoming more acidic over time.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is manufactured without the use of optical brightening agents, ensuring the integrity of its 100% cotton composition. With a thickness of 4-Ply / 60 Pt. (Approximately 1/16"), this board is sturdy and resilient. The paper is free from metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide, with sulfur content less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur. Iron content does not exceed 150ppm and copper does not exceed 6ppm, ensuring a clean, pure product.
The alkaline sizing used in this museum board is applied both internally and externally, with no alum used in the manufacturing process. The board is buffered with calcium carbonate 2-3% alkaline reserve, maintaining a pH of 9 +/-0.5, and is acid-free. The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring the board's color remains vibrant and true over time.
This museum board is designed to not degrade or cause harm to mounted matted artwork, making it a reliable choice for preserving fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs. It passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), ensuring its suitability for professional use.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is constructed using single ply sheets laminated together with an all-natural starch adhesive. It's perfect for matting, mounting, and preservation purposes. For window mats and mat backing, this 4-Ply board is recommended as it creates a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, providing a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
