Review Summary

I use the Ninja 2 with an SSD tethered to a Nikon D800. No more hours wasted converting H.264 to ProRes. That alone is great. Add the monitor's focus, zebra, and false color features, and acquiring a clean image just got a whole lot easier. Yes, it's another accessory you have to buy drive(s) and charge batteries for and it adds weight to your rig. I'm still looking for an ergonomic way to attach it to my shoulder rig with proper weight distribution - as with most tools, new solutions create new problems. It would be great if DSLR's could record directly to ProRes and had monitors that featured the attributes mentioned above. But until then, the Atomos Ninja 2 is an really great work around. I could complain that the Ninja 2 does not come with an HDMI cable, but the package with carrying case, adapters, docking station, etc. comes with so much, it feels like nit picking.
