I bought this to have field-recording, battery-operated power for my Atomos Assassin and my Nikon D750. While it adds to the bulk of my kit, requiring tripod mounting for the PowerStation, the Nikon and the Assassin, it assures continuous recording as I fill my 960GB SSD with 1080P content from the Nikon. I am unaware of any other power solution than a direct AC power connection and that's not always available. Hence the Power Station Video (it has larger batteries than the Photo model).

Love this product. Great power solution. It's a little heavy with both batteries. I find it best suited for a camera rig set up.

I do really like what this unit provides in terms of function. The dummy batteries provided and available options for plug in power are great. The unit and dummy batteries are extremely lightweight, but the included Sony NP batteries make up for that. The power provided is consistent and long lasting. Even better, you can plug it in to the wall power for continuous power. The downside, which I consider to be a big one is where to mount the damn thing. I don't think mounting it beneath the camera is a serious option, first there is no grip to prevent pivoting, second it is too thin to support forward tipping. I have my a7sII in a Varavon cage with an xlr adapter, heavy lenses and 5" or 7" monitor. The product photos suggest you can use this as a grip beneath your camera or mount on top with a hot shoe adapter. Well if it's beneath the camera you will be sagging forward and if it's above then it interferes with all other accessories. I've been mounting vertically on the side of the cage which works for now. I think I am also going to try using a c-clamp on the tripod leg to get it all off the camera entirely.
