no distortion

I tried to go cheap on this with a very inexpensive name brand (from the past) company. The results on my very sharp 400mm Canon lens were awful. You get what you pay for here apparently. Fortunately the on-line seller refunded my money. These BW filters are way-expensive, but work as they should. The sharpness of the lens is unaffected. The polarizer is a terrific outdoor aid for enhancing clouds and cutting/controlling glare on shiny objects.

Good quality

Already owned the multi-coated version of this polarizer. B+W are high quality filters, you can feel the quality. Bought this as a second polarizer for my second lens so I wouldn't have to keep changing filters if I was changing lenses.

Highly recommended

Highly recommend it. I used it to take photos in downtown, Los Angeles area around the sunset, this filter helped me to block the unnecessary reflecting spots.

Worth the money

If you're spending $$ on quality glass don't undersell it by putting on poor quality filters. I've used Canon brand and Tiffen and they are not as good as B + W. Granted B + W is a little heavier in weight but it's worth it. Wouldn't put anything else on my lenses.

Great product

This is a great filter. Only problem and it's not B & W fault is the ability to get it off your lense.

Another Great Lens from B+W

I have always used B+W Filters for everything that i shoot. I had to oder this lens when i got my new Canon L series lens. As usually, this lens performed to the high standards of B+W. The image quality from their filters is far better than the other brands that i have used in the past. I would recommend a B+W filter to anyone who wants consistanly sharp images.

• Polarizer filters evenly increase color saturation of all colors (except black and white), creating deep, rich scenics.
• They add contrast for dramatic skies and ariel shots.
• Polarizers also eliminate glare from highly reflected surfaces like glass and water.
• Polarizers are two part lenses that rotate, allowing you to select the degree of additional saturation, contrast and glare reduction desired.
•They come in two varieties.
• Circular-for all types of cameras (required for beam splitting metering systems commonly found in auto-focus SLR's and in most current TTL Slr's; check your camera's manual).
• Linear-for rangefinders and older SLR metering systems.

B + W 77mm Circular Polarizer Coated Glass Filter Features

  • Ideal general use outdoor color filter.
  • Gives the same deep contrast and glare reducing properties to black and white photography.
  • Combines with Red filters for incredibly dramatic black and white landcsapes.
