I bought this as a Demo model for the lower price. The button to work the tab that holds it in the slot was VERY hard to work so I returned it and paid the difference for a new unit. The new works but the pressure required to work the latch is evidently a design flaw as it is also hard to work although easier than the one I returned. Disappointed with Canon but found Adorama very quick and accommodating! Very pleased with their service. The polarizer does the job I bought it for but I worry that I will have a future where I will not be able to remove the polarizer from the lens.

I bought this polarizer for my new 300mm f/2.8 is II lens (both from Adorama). The first version had been assembled backwards, so that the polarizer would only function correctly if inserted the wrong way around into the lens. This meant the adjustment wheel was on the opposite side of the lens and could not be operated with the right hand index finger, as intended by Canon. A call to Adorama suggested I return the filter directly to Canon as this was obviously a manufacturing fault. I returned the filter to Canon, who confirmed the filter was indeed faulty. It took 6 weeks to get a replacement (Canon was out of stock in the USA). The replacement filter arrived today and that was also faulty - exactly the same fault! It looks like Canon has a bunch of filters incorrectly assembled at their factory. Please check yours carefully before accepting delivery, as I fear there may be many more like it out there. Canon made no comment other than asking me to once again return the filter to their factory for "evaluation".
