The interior design is flimsy. Where you place the batteries easily starts to break after less than normal usage. Functionality is great but the design needs work. I expect better from Canon

I love this external battery pack. It not only triples the number of flashes before reloading batteries but it also significantly reduces the recycle time between flashes. In portrait and event photography I find the reduced recycle time often to be indispensable to getting the shot. Use it with recharable batteries to reduce the recycle time further.

The unit is slim, comes with a belt holster and works well. Retains battery strength even shooting at full power for up to 200 shots....more if shooting ETTL. I own two of these; one for me and one for my second shooter. When I purchased the first one new, it was only $ but now, it sells for $ and is essentially the same thing. I tried to buy a used one first but when I received it, all the plastic clips that hold the batteries in place inside the unit, were cracked off rendering the unit unusable. It had to be returned. That was when I ordered a second NEW one for $ If you're very careful loading and unloading the batteries, it should last you a long time. If you're rough with your equipment however, buy something else. Otherwise, it comes in handy if you need something discreet and don't want to change batteries during an event.

I would highly recommend this product. I have shot flash for a long time, and while I've read a bunch about the benefits and 'necessity' of this thing during weddings, I wasn't prepared for just how incredible it performs. During the reception, I like to shoot with my exposure balanced by the meter and flash in ETTL (600 EX-RT), and I could shoot as fast as I wanted for as long as I wanted. What a difference, especially noticeable during the toasts and when the group busts out in the line dance. I strapped the thing to my bag strap and shot away happily, not changing batteries a single time. Very happy with this rig.
