Pretty sweet package

This prime lens is my go to for landscape photography and the price of this kit can't be beat! The filters are on the cheaper side, but totally worth while and essential to anyone's camera bag.

Been exactly what was expected

I just received this lens today. got a great deal used from Adorama. Might as well have been new in the box with all the paperwork. I immiediately took some shots wide open at F/2.8 with my 6D and peripheral correction turned off to check for vignetting. Saw none. Screwed on a 72mm Hoya Hd Protector, still no vignette. Screwed a Hoya ND 8 onto the protector. now I see the vignette. My conclusion is that with one filter the lens won't vignette, but with two stacked, you might have some mild vignetting at F/2.8. will test further and update this review. I am curious to see if, as you stop down, the vignette fades with the stacked filters. In all, I expected exactly what happened, and I am very pleased with this wide angle lens, and would not hesitate to recommend it and Adorama to my friends.

A disappointment

I bought it to use with my Canon 5D Mark III for street photography and the occasional landscape. Very true colors and little distortion (nice) but serious vignetting, especially noticeable in the landscape shots. Vignetting can be corrected, but the undoing was the soft focus in all contexts, even when camera was set on tripod and a remote used to fire the shot. I returned it after a week.

Fixed and loving it

I bought this lens for the incredible price and with intentions of using it for landscape on a recent trip. I loved the results I got shooting in daylight as well as at night time. While it has a limited range being a fixed lens, I love the challenge and have gotten some pretty incredible shots with it! For the price of this wide-angle lens, it is definitely worth it! I've wanted a wide angle for my canon for a while and other non-fixed lenses are just so pricey and out of my budget! It's a bit heavy but not too bad. Overall, I've had a very good time shooting with it and would purchase again!

Nice wide, good value, does as expected

I bought this as a gift for my son who is a videographer. He finally has me using a Canon DSLR, and we can now share lenses. A 20mm 2.8 lens has a lot of depth of field and will work nicely for him to get wide shots at indoor shoots and events.

Great lens

This lens is worth every penny I paid for, I simply love it. The pictures taken outdoor are sharp and crisp, good even in low light. Had same good experience indoor. A certain degree of distortion was anticipated, but I was pleasantly surprised how little it is.

Not that great

This lens has significant vignetting issues. The color output is also questionable. Some of these things can be corrected in PS, but if you're serious save and get better glass. The lens felt solid and the build quality was good, but it just does not deliver the image quality you'd expect from Canon.

Great Option

I love to walk around with this lens on my 5D. At f/2.8 in daylight there is obvious spherical aberration but by f/4 that completely disappears and this lens is very sharp. This lens is more rectilinear than the L zooms and that's very important to me.

The Glass Is Indeed Sharp

Excellent product -- Excellent Service

By Paul

Exactly perfect for wide angle shots. Used for large area with very little edge distortion. Almost like the human eye.

Ultra-wide-angle lens for serious applications. Easy to hold and carry at 14.3 oz. (405g). Floating rear focusing system. Sharp images are obtained at all subject distances.

Dynamic wide angle design
By offering a field of view of 94 degrees, the EF 20mm f/2.8 USM is able to take in the complete field of human vision, and much more. A great lens for the landscape or documentary photographer. Distortion is highly corrected, for a natural perspective when shooting architecture and interiors.

Fast maximum aperture
A maximum aperture of f/2.8 allows flash-free, hand-held shooting in low-light conditions when using a tripod is impractical.

Aspherical and UD elements
For optimum visual performance, the lens incorporates aspherical elements, to correct spherical aberrations, and Super UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements to eliminate chromatic aberrations. The result is crisp, high-contrast undistorted image quality all the way across the frame.

Ultrasonic focusing
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.

Super Spectra coating
Super Spectra coatings help ensure accurate color balance and high contrast. They also suppress flare and ghosting by absorbing light that would otherwise be reflected off internal lens elements and the camera's digital sensor.
