This is my 3rd R5. The first one is great. The second error, coded 070, was constant. After almost 3 months of sending it back, 2 main boards, and several evaluations. I was finally sent a replacement that works great,

I've been using the Canon 5D Mark III for many years and recently decided to move into the mirrorless world. As someone who primarily shoots photos and already owns a solid collection of EF-mount lenses, I chose this bundle specifically for the control ring adapter, which lets me continue using my existing glass while gaining quick access to customizable controls. I considered the R5 Mark II, but most of the updates seemed geared toward video and autofocus improvements, which weren't a priority for my needs. The original R5 feels like a significant upgrade while maintaining the reliability and familiarity I've come to trust from Canon's DSLR lineup. Overall, the R5 strikes a great balance for photographers transitioning from DSLR to mirrorless without compromising performance, usability, or dependability.

Malfunctions, Focusing has terrible issues. Not worth the money. A cheaper camara performs better. ISO noise is unacceptable for a high-end camera.

I would look elsewhere. They market this as a high end camera, I owned my camera for 17 months (22,000 shutter count) and had a wrinkle show up on a shutter blade. Sent into factory to have them look at it, heard nothing but credit card was charged. I had to call to see what was going on, first supervisor was rude said I should've gotten the extend warranty.... it was 17 months old! I have a 1D mark iii that is 16 years old and has a million shots on it, Canon USED to be tanks. They looked at it and said it was due to damage, so it falls on me. I can't believe I'm saying this but I wish I would've bought a competitors camera.

I thought this would a a difficult camera to learn. Coming from a 5D MkIV, I like the R5 some much more. Once you get the hang of the buttons, you can take some great shots quickly. It is not much different than the 5D but with more time saving stuff.

Look, I know cameras. I've been around cameras my whole life - people taking pictures, fake news, sometimes very good pictures, but usually terrible angles, very nasty. And then I see the Canon R5. Folks, let me tell you: tremendous camera. Probably the best camera ever made. People are saying it, everybody's saying it. 8K video? Nobody thought it could be done, but they did it. Incredible resolution - you can see every detail, every hair, every string on a guitar, even the dust on Sleepy Joe's teleprompter. Amazing. Now, some people - the haters, the losers - they complain, they say, 'Oh, it overheats.' Fake news! Total exaggeration. Maybe if you run it nonstop like a fool, but if you use it smart - and I use it very smart - it's perfect. Very cool, very stable. No camera runs cooler, believe me. The autofocus? Folks, it locks on like nothing else. I had it track an eagle once - beautiful bird, very patriotic - and it never missed. Nikon? Couldn't do it. Sony? They tried. Sad. And the photos - absolutely beautiful. The best color science, very vibrant, very strong colors. People see the pictures and they say, 'Wow, who took this? Was it Ansel Adams? Was it Rembrandt?' No, it was me, with the R5. So if you want the best - not good, not great, but the best - you get the Canon R5. Total winner. Everybody else? Low quality. Weak. Out of focus. Sad!

I've enjoyed taking photos for decades(5), R5 is by far my favorite for a number of reasons but mostly its ability to deep beautiful clarity and colors. Low light photos to bright sunny days wow is all I can say. Not a professional photographer, but this camera has renewed my desire to take more pictures.

Near perfect image quality and functionality. Great ergonomics and design. A bit overpriced so it's definitely not unreasonable to choose some cheaper counterparts with similar quality.

Bought this in March 2024 after having focus issues with the mark 4. I thought because it was more expensive it would be better. This camera was SO amazing the first 4 months and then BOOM. The focus sensor stops working. This was after a failed brand new mark 4 and now an upgrade to this mirrorless. I don't make enough money to continue to repair and replace these cameras every year. I have moderate use on cameras and always keep them in a cushioned travel case. I have been a photographer for 8 years and I shot on the mark 3 for 7 years. This is not a user error issue. When I sent my r5 to get looked at, the focus sensor was misaligned and that was what was causing the issue. They said it was fixed but I haven't noticed any difference.

Takes some really great photos. However the eye detection is not a "cure all". It takes lots of practice to capture birds in flight. Definitely a learning curve.

This is the best and most expensive camera I have ever owned. Great overall and never had any issues except for the sensor giving out after only 13 months with light usage. I'm an enthusiast who takes care of my equipment so there was no reason why the sensor would give out after that amount of time. Perhaps I've been lucky in the past but I've Canons throughout and not a single one has had this severe an issue. Of course it wasn't covered by warranty. With the amount of money I've sunk into this camera, I don't see getting something else unless another major repair is needed. I really do like the R5 but I'm always anxious that it's going to give out at the least optimal time.

The camera works decent. However for the price you would think they would cover their products for more than a year. But no, unlike Swarovski unmatched backing of the quality of their products, you get a measly 1 year warranty unless you opt in to pay even more. Beware of using the tripod mount. I used it with a camera cage to product my camera body, but eventually the metal threads gave out and broke. Cheap magnesium? Who knows but I am beyond annoyed that this defect is not covered. This will be my last Canon purchase. You become average when your warranty doesn't back the quality of your products.

While the upgraded features for the R5 II are really nice, bang for the buck, the original R5 cannot be beat. After reading many reviews that mentioned overheating and/or shutting down, I was a bit hesitant to plop down cash for what would be the most expensive camera I have ever purchased. I can now say that I have had ZERO such issues. I did several torture test just to see how the camera would respond. First up was continuous video recording using a Canon OEM battery and two other off-brand batteries. Drained all three of them with the only shutdowns coming when the battery charge dropped too low to power the camera. I have even left it out in the sun with power on all afternoon when the temps were in the mid 90's and still not a hint of an issue. Just kept shooting (recording on both cards at the same time) and waiting for hours on end to see if it would crash. In spite of the harsh conditions, the R5 continued to performed flawlessly. Perhaps these results are from the latest firmware update, cannot say one way or the other but I can attest that the R5 is just as reliable as my old 90D and every other Canon camera I have owned in the past.

Camera is amazing as expected. While all the new features on the Mark II are nice, bang for the buck can't miss with the original R5. Shipping was super fast as well with package arriving a day sooner than expected. The one issue with the purchase is the card reader. Not only have I used it with the included SanDisk card, I have also used it with two other cards. In each instance, it gets so hot that it shuts down within a minute or two. The only way to access the files is to place the reader and card inside a plastic bag then dunk it in a bowl of ice. Otherwise, it will lock up and stop reading/writing completely. Fortunately, none of the cards have heated to the point of causing harm but now, I make sure to have the ice and bag ready before using the reader with any CF Express card. Even with the poor quality of the reader, the price is still a great deal, especially when considering what the R5 cost when it first hit the market.

Love it ! Images are crisp and sharp. SanDisk CFexpress card is fast. I also, own an R7 so, it's taking a little time to get used to slight differences in placement of controls and menu but, this presents only a minor problem as I learn the R5. So far, I'm very happy with the camera. I'd been waiting for a significant price drop and since I do very little video, I don't need the enhanced video capabilities of later models. I'm very glad I made the purchase. While the camera was the same price from all reputable stores and most offered free "ad ons", Adorama included something I actually needed: a quality CFExpress Card (SanDisk128) and a dual CF+SD card reader !! Adorama's reputation, free , timely shipping and useful "add ons" cinched my decision to buy from Adorama.

Very happy with the R5 and memory card, however the Green Extreme card reader included with this bundle is alarmingly poor. Not only did it excessively overheat (could burn to the touch), it failed to properly transfer files to the computer, and caused crashes with lightroom. I have replaced this unit with a Lexar USB-C Type B card reader and have none of the above listed problems.

I bought the R5 body and lens mount bundle as my 6D Mark II was getting old. They came promptly and exactly as expected. I am able to use my EF lenses and they fit snuggly! I shoot events but love wildlife and wanted a full size sensor for the shots that matter. The R5 With 45 mpx crops nicely for birds so it handles everything I need in one camera body.
