The in-camera display is sharp and clear

Used on a Cannon 6D fit perfectly and more comfortable when wearing eyeglasses. The nose still touches the display but it is not smashed into it. The in-camera display is sharp and clear.

It fits on to the Eyepiece of the Camera, but it is much smaller than the original Canon 40D Eyecup

When I was shopping for eyepiece extenders for my Canon 40D, it said that the Canon EP EX-15 II was the correct one for the Camera. Actually, that is not accurate; because what I discovered the hard way was that, the EP EX-15 II was smaller in physical size. It fits on to the Eyepiece of the Camera, but it is much smaller than the original Canon 40D Eyecup. If you have a large size Camera body, the Canon EP EX-15 (without the II) will probably suit you best. Oddly enough, Canon USA wasn’t aware of this either, and told me that the EP EX-15 won’t fit on my Canon 40D, but actually it does… beautifully! Therefore, to sum up, the Canon EP EX-15 II is smaller in physical size to the Canon EP EX-15.

Essential option

I discovered this with my XT way back when, and for each subsequent upgrade, 40D, XSi, and now 70D I automatically order the extender because it just makes using the viewfinder easier. There are two models so check the manual but sometimes you can transfer as from 40D to 70D. I'd recommend it.

Great device

I have used Canon Eyepiece Extenders on all my Canon Cameras. Ones that I own now and ones I no longer have. It keeps my nose far enough away from the monitor screen so I'm not constantly smudging it. Some reviews state that it fits the camera loosely and can fall off. I have never had this problem.

Not Practicle

Bought this as I was sick of nose smudges on my LCD. It does not lock onto the camera securely enough to inspire confidence, so I'm sure it would eventually be lost...if u end up using it. More importantly, do not buy this if you use manual focus. It creats a slight fisheye effect in the VF, which means the projected image looks smaller than without this extender. Even with a manual focus screen manual focus is near impossible.

Terriffic device

It's a relief to not have my face smearing the LCD screen while using the eyepiece. This solves most of that problem and makes using the eyepiece much more enjoyable.

The Jury is still out

I've not used it enough. I bought it to keep from smearing the LCD display with my nose. While it does help, it doesn't stop it. The viewfinder image is smaller because it's farther away. Quality seems ok but I'm not sure if it locks on tightly enough. I've not used it much yet so i can't reccommend it.

Not for everybody

If you have a long nose and you are wearing glass, it's OK. My nose isn't that small and if I have it on, it's easier to shoot BUT.... it gives me a huge distortion and took it off!

Small things make the biggest difference

I buy an extender for every camera I have ever had, and have gotten them for friends, they are wonderful in helping extend the eyepiece!

Shouldn't be necessary but it is

This item is so essential that I can not understand why Canon does not build it into their camera bodies.

Eyepiece does not stay on camera

I have had to replace 3 of these eyepieces. The plastic construction does not hold well and the eyepiece tends to fall off easily when putting camera into bag or taking it out. I have contacted Canon about this and they gave me a polite 'Thank You' but no indication of reengineering the device. Otherwise it does a great job of keeping your nose off of the LCD panel. I would recommend this to a friend, but with the above caution.

Great if you have glasses

I've used this extender with my 10D and 30D. I love it. It really helps since I have glasses. with the extender on my nose doesn't rub the LCD screen so I don't have the annoying smear marks on the screen.

Eyepeice Extender does NOT fit EOS 1Ds

The eyecup has a small triangular protrusion on the back that slides into the space just above the diopter adjustment on the left side. The extender has no provision for this protrusion either on the front or the back and so does not fit properly on the camera or when you replace the eyecup. I have made Canon aware of this issue and they are researching it.
