I've been using this camera for a couple of weeks now and it is performing will. I retired my s95 for the s100, and most of the functions are the same. I like the look of the silver, a nice change from my old black one. It took great vacation shots of my kids on the beach and camping. I got some action shots of the dogs and kids playing in the ocean, and captured a pretty cool shot of a kitesurfer who passed us by. Clear images. The biggest drawback for me with this camera and most point and shoots I have used is the lag. I love my SLR for being able to hit the shutter and take a picture immediately. I have had times where I missed the shot because of lag with the s95 and the new s100.

I purchaed this camera for my girlfriend. I'm the proud ownder of an S95 and an S100 was a natural evolution to it. I love the wide 24mm field of view and low noise performance. Big fan!

I love having a camera that I can easily keep with me and that also allows me easy manual manipulation and doesn't get in the way of itself. I'm impressed by the camera's ability to read and anticipate exposure and white balance.

This little power house travels everywhere I go. The only thing this camera is missing is the key chain attachment.

It's an ideal camera for events and travel. It's in my opinion the best compact in its price category, compared with the Sony cybershot, and with the recent Canon Powershr s110.The quality of the videos is impressive.

I wanted a small camera to keep handy while documenting aircraft restoration. I got a small camera and never realized how difficult it would be to handle. Performance, image quality and operation are fine I just need a big camera that is small. Yes, I can't have both so small it is.

I bought this camera for indoor action shots of my son's basketball games. After comparing the pictures from this camera to my other basketball action photos, the quality isn't even comparable. I can get great clear pictures which was impossible from my last camera and this camera is 1/4 of the size. Amazing! Still learning to use all of the features.

I owned a Powershot S45 before, but it was getting outdated (MPs, battery type, memory card, etc.). However, it still works. So when I was shopping for a new pocket camera, I looked no further than the Canon PowerShot series. I read reviews on the latest models and felt that for the price, I didn't need to spend the extra money on the wireless features of the S110. So I went with the S100. I love this camera! It doesn't feel cheaply made. And it does RAW format, which is not common in most point-and-shoot cameras. I'm not ready to lug around a DSLR, yet, so I settled on one of the best, feature-rich point-and-shoot compact cameras I know of. Plus, I'm partial to Canon products. I'm familiar with their dials, buttons, and features, so it was easy to assimilate to this camera. I'm still exploring some of the new features of this model, but here are some things I've noticed so far. The shutter lag is a little bit of an issue. However, while trying the different shooting modes, I discovered one in which the shutter lag was not much of an issue. I also think I wasn't pressing the shutter down hard enough. But I'll still be exploring this. Other than that, I do miss the optical viewfinder. On my S45, I was able to shut off the display and compose my shots through the viewfinder. This saved my battery, because I'd often encounter a dead battery before I could get to a charger. I'm still on the fence about a camera that comes with a chargeable battery or one that uses alkaline batteries. You can buy alkalines anywhere, but you have to buy them, and they're not always "new" in foreign countries. With a rechargeable battery, I've learned to charge it overnight for each day's shooting I'll be doing, or buy an extra to swap out. Also, the flash pops up at the top of the camera body. I'm still getting used to this, as I tend to put a finger over it, forgetting that it's going to rise up. I fear this is a moving part that may be more susceptible to being broken. I just have to remember it's there and hold the camera elsewhere. I'm right-handed, and it pops up on the left side. I tend to shoot with my right hand, so my left is holding the camera securely. I've often had my finger firmly over the top of where the flash mechanism pops up. This is a bit of a nusance. Those are the only few cons to this little powerhouse of a camera. Other than that, I'm excited to try out the aperture and shutter priority settings and some of the other scene shooting modes built in. Oh, and I like the programmable ring on the lens that you can adjust for focal length (great for adding awesome depth-of-field to portrature), or you can "program" the ring to do another function all-together! Wish I could say I've tried it all, but this camera has so many new features, it's going to take me a while to play with them all and test them out.

This is an excellent pocket size camera. I am a hobbyist but also a significant stock photo shooter and usually carry around about 16 pounds of camera and gear (Canon 5D, 70-200, 24-70, tripod, etc). The s100 does not completely replace all the other gear but does a great job in mamy applications ( I have all those L lenses so I cannot abandon them altogether). Landscape, macro, indoor low light, some action, video, are very good and I use it for significant iStockphoto work now, much to my surprise. I am shooting a lot of editorial photos now and this camera is perfect. People dont shy away or even notice a camera like this in a public place as opposed to the big rig. I am able to quickly pull this out and unobtrusively take far more shots that ever before. My biggest issues so far are these: 1-relatively slow frames per second, cant replace my other for skiing shoots. 2-the small size make stable video difficult, but I think that is something I can learn to control with practice. 3-A general complaint about EVERY camera without a viewfinder, I simply cannot see ANYTHING in bright daylight including what I am trying to photograph. As a result you have to know your controls well, as in exposure compensation, literaly be able to do it with your eyes closed. I have found that I can use my hands to shade enough to see the histogram and know if I am in the ballpark. RAW capability was a must for me. I like the idea of full manual control but find that "P" is really all I need most of the time to set the ISO, or f-stop, or speed where I want and let it do the rest. Since I shoot in RAW, I can change whaterever else I want in Lightroom later and have not played with the multitude of effects, filter, and other features. Some say the battery life is poor, I make sure I always charge prior to use and have only needed my backup once on a 10 degree day. So far not a problem.
