Review Summary

As a Dad with two high school age boys in chorus, band, and a host of other activities I wanted something a little better than the Canon Powershot video. This filled the bill perfectly and through Adorama was able to get the extras that really are necessary to make a complete and affordable video recording package. All in all i couldn't beat the combination of price and product. The fact that it all got to us quickly was just icing on the cake. I haven't begun to explore all it can do but was able to get concert (low light) video that impressed me with no effort. I will read the manual one day.

I bought this camera to video our church services, so it had to have a external mic plug-in port to plug into our sound board to get top quality sound and video. I am very happy with with the purchase. Can't beat it for the $.

I want to upgrade my Panasonic HDC-TM15 that works fine on outdoor but not to well on indoor. After some time of research the Canon series Vixia M400, M40 & M41 capture my attention. They have te same sensor of the Vixia HF G10 ($1500) camcorder that produce excellent video inclusive at very low light. Also the ability of have 2 SD slot its awesome. The only 3 cons that I found are the poor touch screen LCD that its a little difficult to work with, the lens its not to wide and the battery only have use for 55 minutes. Need to buy and extra battery for long trips.

Larger sensor than in most other camcorders results in better image quality. Don't see the need for an internal memory as external is cheaper and this camcorder has 2 slots. Battery is a bit small and one might want to buy an additional extended battery
