It's nice to have a backup to the Sd cards to store Photos when I don't have my laptop with me.

I used it in Africa and downloaded 20GB. Worked great. It works fine with my 8GB 300x speed Canon 5D cards. To eliminate the "ghost" files after you erase you have to go to the computer and delete from within the program. It is a bit wonky in its function. I bot the 40GB--big mistake. Should have had 160GB for the raw files. Might buy a 160 next

In all it's a great idea... In the field storage and a quick view of your image files. However, this unit falls short to all the hype. The data transfer is very slow. On a 1gb card, (with raw data) the times vary between 3 and 8 minutes. Of course that does not count the times it locks up and seems to freeze all together. Even though this unit is being pushed as a "pro" solution, the p3000 series is at best for the point and shoot market. To be fair, I did try this machine with my little nikon point and shoot and it seemed to work more as promised. However that was after "wipeing clean" anything I did in the past[...]

I have owned the P-3000 for over a year now. It has been very useful when I am on location at a wedding or sporting event when I want to download/back-up my images frequently. The kids especially love to see pictures of their activities between games/matches. The first unit I received had a few "blown" pixels, but it was replaced immediately by the store. My only complaint is that you cannot delete images that are "locked" in your DSLR before you transfer them to the P-3000. I have several undeletable files stuck on my device. Customer support took many days to respond and then offered no solution. My advice - make sure you have no locked images on your card before transferring. I have not had any trouble downloading from any SD, CF or flashdrive. I wish I would have bought the P-5000, because I am always running out of room.

I bought (and try to use) the P-2000. As far as I can tell, that is the same machine, although with a lower storage capacity. I presume the operating system is the same. I have used the viewer as a way to back up memory cards (and view pictures) while on extended field trips. The interface is awkward and somewhat slow, but tolerable. However, when it comes to deleting files from the Saved data section, it is intermittently impossible. Even when the data is removed, and I am left with a series of "empty" icons cluttering the Saved data space, with no obvious way to get rid of them: the machine won't let me delete same. The first time I dealt with Epson help on this issue, multiple phone calls, multiple people to talk with, and they eventually replaced the machine. Am now having the identical problem with the replacement. A product that is definitely not worth the hassle - look for alternatives to the Epson photoviewer system.

Epson has admitted that all their multimedia storage units have problems loading from WA memory cards, in my case Lexar 133WA

I am the type of person who is always wanting to back everything up as soon as I can and as quickly as I can. Also, I like to review my images right after I'm done shooting an area or specific series of images. The P-3000 lets me do all of this very quickly and easily. Unlike the previous reviewer, I have used my Sandisk 2 GB Extreme IV cards in this thing without any problems. A whole card is transferred in only a few moments. The 4" view screen gives you some incredible resolution for such a small size and let's you better evaluate your images in the field or at home with friends. After shooting some of my parents' flowers around the home, I was able to transfer the images to the P-3000, have my Mom select the images she wanted me to print (it has this cool "favorites" button which marks images with a star), and store those in a separate folder for when I had time for post and printing. You can even do slideshows with music and all if you are into that sort of thing. All in all, if you are one who wants backup A.S.A.P. and likes to view your images on a nice sized screen but you don't want to haul around your laptop, this is the item you want. Only very slight criticism is the unit is a bit large and has some weight to it, but if you are purchasing this thing, you likely already own a DSLR and camera bag in which you can easily store this toy. Just go get one, it's a really good time!

Great display, but s--l--o--w loading, displaying initially. The P2000 does not support high-speed card (LEXAR 133, in my case), this isn't disclosed in the easily available documentation. Battery life is good, but battery is propritary, and MUST be in unit when you plug it into the wall, or damage may result; several other cautions in the manual you might not anticipate.
