This is a good solution if you need to mount your light high or on a boom arm to keep the weight to a minimum. I use this with my 400 Pro and various light modifiers on a light stand with a Kupo Baby Arm and it works well. However, the fan to help keep the modeling lamp cool never worked. I had assumed the fan only kicks on when the extension head reached a certain temperature. But only after a few long sessions where the modelling lamp would shut off I realized the fan never worked in the first place. I am past my warranty period and the cost to repair on top of shipping to and from the repair facility costs nearly as much as purchasing a new unit, even with inflation (when I bought the extension head it was 30 cheaper). I like the unit. It does what I need it to do, but disappointed the fan doesn't work and I need to shut off the modeling lamp in between sessions.

I have a small studio space, and have 2 xplor 400 strobes. Using this with the extension head makes it MUCH easier to adjust the positioning of the strobes, especially when I need to have them on a boom. These work great, except for the fact that the knob for tilting the head is just about totally useless with any kind of modifier of any size. I tried all the workarounds, such as switching out washer for rubber one, etc, but it just will not hold up a good size modifier at an angle. So I would not recommend this if in fact you are planning to use with a modifier. Fortunately I was able to custom rig my own adjustment knob, using an old Bowens knob, and I can now hold ANY size modifier at any angle with zero slipping. This is something the manufacturer SHOULD have done, so beware of this shortcoming, it is a serious one.

This is an absolute must, especially if you plan to do any shooting outdoors / on location. This makes your FPAD400 much easier to carry and maneuver during shots. It also provides better stability even if you're shooting in studio by placing the unit body at a lower center of gravity on your C-stand or flash stand.

Such a relief to get the majority of the Xlpor 400's weight off the boom arm. I worry much less now about studio accidents.

Perfect addition to the already great AD400. The Extension FlashHead offers better flexible and security when booming the light is required and lighter distribution of weight when a person is acting as your light stand.

I use these on several of my ad400's. Nice to get the weight off the top of the stand especially when shooting outdoors. Clamp the main unit to the bottom of your stand for more stability than using the ad400 without.

It works well with a boom; the main weight of the flash unit can be mounted to the legs, less weight on the boom itself. One star removed due to the price.

Works as you would expect in getting the weight and bulk away from the business end, allowing for more flexibility in placement of the light source. I use a Manfrotto super clamp to mount the Xplor400 Pro to my light stand, which helps stabilize everything. It has a modeling light and built-in fan. It utilizes the Godox/Flashpoint mount but does not include a separate Bowens mount adapter, and you will absolutely want to buy a separate adapter for whatever system(s) you use, as changing them is tedious. No carrying case is included, unfortunately.

Really handy if you want to lighten the weight on a boomed light. Fits well and functions perfectly. Be sure to order an extra bowens mount.

Works completely as advertised and expected. However, it does not ship with its own Bowens mount adapter -- apparently you are expected to detach the one from the main unit and re-attach it to the extension head with numerous hex screws. It is pictured with the adapter, so that photo is a bit misleading. I just ordered an additional adapter as the detach, re-attach exercise is way too much hassle.
