Review Summary

I use the camera for two purposes one general use vacation pictures etc. and for taking pictures of my folk art walking sticks that require a good close up and wide view capacity. The camera does both things well. It is a great point and shoot camera as well as a bridge SLR between the inexpensive cameras and the expensive pro cameras. You can customize the non auto settings for special use if you are into the fine points of photography. It has a 50X optical zoom lens. This is like a telescope or 1200 zoom lens. The controls are in easy to reach places and the camera is simple to operate. Picture quality is very good for its class but do not expect it to be in the class of an expensive SLR. One neat feature is that when you look through the view finder it shuts off the LCD screen which saves battery power and then turns it back on when you look at the screen. The price of 248 is great for all you get with this camera. The battery shoots about 500 pictures or a hour of video. I would get a second battery. For the 19.95 its worth it. You can get any size memory card. I bought 2 8 GB which will hold 700 pictures on each more then enough for me.

I bought this Finepix SL1000 camera prime for it zoom of 1200mm which will cost me 4 to 6 times for a 1000mm lens for my Nikon D800 or D3100 and that will be manual focus lens. Works very well, of course I should use a tripod but with its image stabilization its okay to do hand held. I read story of Fujifilm have been know to have battery(or power) problem, I had Fujifilm SPRO 3, which was a nightmare to keep recharging AA battery. I had Fujifilm S100FS which can take 400 or more shots on single fully charge battery. This camera Finepix SL1000 I was at LA Zoo, I shots 385 with ¼ battery power left. Another great thing that Fujifilm camera was the tilt LCD and the viewfinder. They didn't flip and flop the screen like camcorder or my Nikon D5200. You just tilt it from the back and view it like a twin view camera from the past. And next that you looking at LCD and then look in the viewfinder it automatically shut the LCD and turn the viewfinder on and in reverse. Good job Fujifilm camera!!! Picture quality is as good as some of my Nikon cameras photos. I don't expect to do any sport or quick shooting with this camera, better use my high end camera. What do you expect at this price.

The Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 is not as powerful as a DSLR, yet it is a very good point and shoot camera with an outstanding lens quality. With a little practice it produces very good results outdoors and indoors, as long as you keep the ISO as low as possible. I recommend it.

The camera enables me to take wild-life and nature scenes I could not take with other cameras. The features of the camera are amazing. The battery life not too good, so pick up spare battery(s).

The Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 is a 16.2MP Digital Camera (Black). It features Fujinon optical 50x zoom lens (24 - 1200mm) incorporates a combination of aspherical lenses and ED lens. It provides a bright aperture rating of f/2.9 - 6.5 with 17 elements in 12 groups, the lens combines aspherical and ED elements to good effect for reduced aberration and superior image quality. With Super-Macro Mode capturing subjects as close as 1cm from the lens, the FinePix SL1000 seamlessly covers an enormous focal range with no need to ever change lenses.
Lens shift image stabilization ensures that even hand-held shots are free from blur. 16M BSI-CMOS makes even dark scenes bright for high-quality images. Sometimes things happen too fast for you to see them properly with your own eyes. The FinePix SL1000 can freeze the action at up to an amazing 480fps. So you can see every single minute detail and watch things happening step by step in slow motion.
