This lens is recommended.

I have found that this conversion lens does nothing different than add a slightly wider viewing angle. Be sure to go into the x100's settings to turn on the WCL-X100 conversion lens feature, as that will then correct for errors. I notice the exact same image quality - no reduction whatsoever - just a larger field of view for when you want more in the image than the fixed lens offers - landscape, architectural photography, etc. Currently, I leave this on my x100 all of the time.

• The WCL-x100 0.8 x wide conversion lens for the x100 converts the camera lens to a 28mm equivalent. Lens hoods and filters designed specifically for the x100 can be attached to the conversion lens without an adapter ring.

• The WCL-x100 may cast shadows in pictures taken with the built-in flash. You may use an optional external flash approved for the x100 to avoid this.

• The x100 camera firmware must be updated to version 1.3.0 or later for optimal aberration control. Remove the front ring from the camera and attach the conversion lens to the camera.
