Very cool to be exploring the infra red world. This is a full spectrum camera so you will need filters to block or let in whichever bands of light you want. Out of the box it’s just a camera without an infrared filter.

This package is strictly for the forensic professional and has a lot of equipment that no doubt was carefully selected after conferring with people who work in the field. You have what you need to get right to work capturing images in Full Spectrum. There is an app that allows remote operation of the camera from your cell phone so you can set the camera up over some evidence or an exam table and not have any problem viewing the evidence, changing the settings, activating the shutter etc. Also, what you see on the display is the actual exposure that will result from activating the shutter. As you change the settings, the display reflects how the image will appear, unlike other DSLR cameras where you don't know how the settings will affect the final image until you capture it. My one complaint is that I have found there is a hot spot when using IR filters that requires some manipulating of exposure controls in order to minimize it. Including IR & UV filters for the 67mm lens should be a consideration moving forward.

The image quality across the spectrum from ultraviolet through short infrared is astounding. This camera is being used by me in a museum environment to photograph art and documents by infrared light. Testing the camera with both UV and IR light sources, with and without various filters, it has performed beautifully. I am sure that as a surveillance camera it will do as well, since IR light sources work beautifully even at a distance. However, that is not something that I will be doing. At low light levels, using a lens with OIS is a very good idea.

Very cool to be exploring the infra red world. This is a full spectrum camera so you will need filters to block or let in whichever bands of light you want. Out of the box it’s just a camera without an infrared filter.

In the United States, Adorama is one of a limited group of pre-approved Fujifilm dealers that can offer-T1 IR products to law enforcement/military entities and medical/scientific professionals that intend to use the product for scientific purposes. The information provided below is provided for the benefit of these specific customer groups.
FUJIFILM X-T1 IR (Infrared) is the first advanced infrared X-Series mirrorless camera that delivers high performance in demanding fields for technical experts, law enforcement, medical research and scientific communities. Sharing nearly identical specifications with the award-winning FUJIFILM X-T1, the FUJIFILM X-T1 IR adds advanced infrared technology to see light from the ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared (IR) portions of the light spectrum (approximately 380nm – 1,000nm). The X-T1 IR is a premium mirrorless camera specifically designed for professionals, designed to pair seamlessly with high quality FUJINON XF lenses for reliable and outstanding forensic results.
The weather-sealed X-T1 IR focuses on both excellent image quality as well as on delivering incredible speed. It uses an extremely fast and accurate autofocus system, and is compatible with Ultra High Speed UHS-II SD memory cards. At up to 8 frames per second, the X-T1 IR is fit for any specialized forensics workplace in need of first-rate photo quality, durability and performance.

Allows you to photograph both UV and IR wavelengths, in addition to the visible spectrum. This updated design passes 380-1000nm, compared to the approximate 400-700nm range of most cameras, allowing you to photograph subjects that are otherwise rendered invisible. Aside from the distinct spectral sensitivity, the X-T1 IR is identical to the X-T1 in nearly all other aspects. It features a 16.3 megapixel APS-C x-Trans CMOS II sensor and an ExR Processor II to produce high-resolution imagery and full HD video with an expandable sensitivity range from ISO 100-25600 as well as a top continuous shooting rate of 8 fps. Fujifilm's proprietary x-Trans sensor uses a unique randomized pixel array in order to avoid the use of a resolution-reducing optical low-pass filter, therefore providing images with the utmost sharpness and clarity.

The X-T1 IR has the ability to record HD video at 60fps in IR. Paired with our FUJINON XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR weather-resistent lens and XF1.4x Teleconverter, the camera has a reach of 840mm (35mm equivalent), making the combination an excellent tool for nighttime surveillance where the utility of traditional cameras are more limited.

While nearly identical to the standard X-T1, the X-T1 IR features modified imaging capabilities that enable it to pass both UV and IR wavelengths, in addition to standard visible light. This extended sensitivity, from approximately 380nm to 1000nm, supports a greater range of specialized shooting needs, such as fine art wide spectrum imaging, as well as scientific uses such as law enforcement crime scene investigation, healthcare diagnostics and observation, fine art/document duplication and reproduction imaging and other technical applications.

A large 16.3MP APS-C CMOS image sensor is integrated into the X-T1 IR to provide high image quality and detail. Using Fujifilm's unique x-Trans bespoke pixel array, the sensor is designed with a randomized pixel pattern to eliminate the need of an optical low-pass filter for reducing moire and aliasing. By removing this filter from the design, higher image sharpness is possible. Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) factors are also taken into account using the ExR Processor II, which helps to automatically compensate for aberrations and diffraction blur in order to produce images with the utmost inherent sharpness.
Aside from benefitting low-light performance, the ExR Processor II also provides quick performance throughout the entire camera system. The camera start-up time is about 0.5 seconds, shutter lag is about 0.05 seconds and the shooting interval time is about 0.5 seconds. A fast autofocus performance speed of 0.08 seconds is also enabled using the advanced Intelligent Hybrid AF system using both contrast- and phase-detection focusing methods.

Intelligent Hybrid AF is a quick, responsive autofocus system that employs both contrast- and phase-detection methods to acquire focus quickly in a wide variety of lighting conditions and shooting situations. Clear focus can quickly be attained to aid in catching fast-paced movement more easily. Three focus modes are available (AF-S, AF-C and M) for greater control over how the X-T1 IR achieves sharp focus. When working with autofocus, the AF area is divided into a 49-point matrix in order to gain clear focus of any type of subject matter. Additionally, a built-in AF assist lamp is available for aiding the focus system when photographing in low-light situations.

When working with manual focus, two additional features can be employed for enhanced critical focusing in a more controllable manner. By using the phase-detection pixels located on the imaging sensor, Digital Split Image technology is able to assist in acquiring precise focus through the implementation of four striped focusing aids; akin to a rangefinder focusing method, once these stripes have been lined up, sharp focus can be ensured. Also contributing to manual focus accuracy, Focus Peak Highlight has been integrated and enables a more objective system of focusing by way of highlighting sharp edges and lines of contrast, using one of three colors, once they are in focus

An advanced electronic viewfinder has been incorporated into the X-T1 IR's design to support clear eye-level monitoring along with a host of unique viewing features to better support a more efficient overall workflow. The Real Time Viewfinder is comprised of a 2,360k-dot OLED display and features an exceptionally high magnification of 0.77x, along with a 31deg. angle of view complemented by the 0.005 sec. lag time. Four different viewing modes are available:

Featuring a body design reminiscent of SLR film cameras, the X-T1 IR exhibits a meshing of both analog exposure controls along with intelligent automated technologies. The clean and functional body design incorporates physical shutter speed, ISO, drive mode, AF mode and +/- 3 EV. Strong doesn't have to mean heavy and with its body made from die-cast magnesium, the FUJIFILM X-T1's chassis is sturdy and durable as well as compact and lightweight. The exposure compensation, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity dials are all precision milled from aluminum and deliver a reassuring click at every notched setting, while reinforced glass is used for added protection of the LCD screen. In every detail, the high-performance FUJIFILM X-T1 is designed to be tough and reliable.

Experts, professionals, and practitioners can use the new FUJIFILM X-T1 IR in their everyday work, and immediately benefit from its x-Trans CMOS II Sensor, its ultra wide "Real Time" EVF, and its large, high resolution tilting screen. The X-T1 IR maintains the 100% silent electronic shutter of the X-T1, and its electronic viewfinder allows perfect night vision with an infrared light source, normally invisible to the human eye. The exterior of the X-T1 IR is constructed of 100% magnesium alloy, and is built to be weather-resistant, perfect for use in hot or cold, wet or dusty, and other challenging weather conditions. The X-T1 IR has approximately 80 points of weather sealing for outdoor dependability, and can withstand freezing temperatures down to 14°F (-10°C).
The X-T1 IR focuses on both excellent image quality as well as delivering incredible speed. It uses an extremely fast and accurate autofocus system, and is compatible with Ultra High Speed UHS-IISD memory cards. At up to 8 frames per second, the X-T1 IR is fit for any specialized workplace in need of first-rate photo quality, durability and performance.
