There is a lack of concise information about sizing for this product relative to specific cameras - this should be addressed by the mfg. I purchased the hood after experiencing problems with reviewing (while at the site)the on-camera results of flower shots taken in full sun; they seemed okay but several that I thought were in focus were not when reviewed on a pc. I could have used the hood to review depth-of-field before the shot was taken also. Used primarily on a Nikon D7100 and secondarily an older D200 with a smaller screen. Good fit on the 7100. The D200 is okay - it covers some of the left hand controls-no big deal though as it still functions to shade the screen. A 4 instead of 5 star rating given because of price and the case is tighter than it needs to be. This makes it a bit more difficult to remove and replace especially when it is on a belt and the eyepiece is screwed out.

I don't take my Canon 3D Mark III out that I don't take my Hoodman Screen Loupe along with it. As soon as I hit a spot for images, I hange the loupe around my neck. It removes glare from the screen for viewing, allowing me to check my focus, my exposure, my colors -- especially, for me, washed out highlights -- and my composition. The unit comes with a function for focusing the loupe for my less-than-perfect vision. If I enlarge the image in my screen, I can assure that I have a tack-sharp foucs. I can also check my depth-of-field, or my stop-action. I can study the image, looking for distracting elements and unintended objects. I lost my first one, and felt lost myself until my second arrived. I regard it as part of my camera.

I use the screen loupe to view my shots after taking them. The loupe is great for this task.

I use this loupe to review pictures on the LCD in bright light, when they would be hard to see otherwise. It's light, easy to carry, and focusable. A minor annoyance is that the hood makes it a bit hard to reach some of the display controls (mostly on the Nikon), but it's well worth it.

Great product if your eye sight permits. Couldn't get it to focus for my eye sight.

After reading about the Loupe, I decided it was worth having in my bag. I do a lot of photography outdoors and find it hard to see what I've captured on my screen. It's very light weight and comfortable hanging around my neck. I've also clipped it onto my camera strap and this way it's out of my way if I'm laying on my stomach. It's easy to focus although I do wish it had a lock to keep it where you set it so you're not having to adjust it so often (5 stars if it had this feature). Even if you don't think you would use this all the time, it is nice to have in case you do need it. I've used it more than I expected!

I have Nikons D300 and D800. I bought the Hoodman for the D300 and found it works on the D800. Hoodman sells a model for the D800's 3.2 inch viewing screen at a much higher price. Happy to say the standard 3 inch version works just as well on the D800 as it does on the D300.

This loupe seems well made, and the optics are quite clear. Wide range of adjustability makes it work equally well whether I am wearing glasses or contacts. Comes with small, well-made carrying case and neck strap to keep it handy. Well thought out and works well. BTW, no reason it cannot work with Pentax too.

Those of us that have reached a certain milestone in life need all the help we can get in viewing our images on the LCD screen. While my Sony A77 does a great job of presentation, at my age (71 years old!) the Hoodman Loupe gives me the details I need to verify the photograph in camera is accurate.

I thought this thing was a gimmick until I actually looked through a friend's. Ordered one the next day. In my line of work I don't have time to play around with settings and can not bracket to ensure proper exposure. We take tens of thousands of photos of triathletes every weekend and more often than not we are shooting under less than ideal, if not completely backlit, situations. We all know how difficult it is to be sitting in the bright sun looking at your LCD squinting, hoping what you think you see is correct. With this, it omits all ambient light so it's just like you are looking at your monitor. You can tell instantly how good or bad the exposure is. If you've got less than perfect eyes like many of us it's got a +/- 3 diopter adjustment. Can't imagine a triathlon without this!

Much easier to see the screen when in bright lite.

This LCD screen loupe lets you adequately analyze the screen image when subject to bright, direct-sun viewing conditions. It does not magnify the image, as some buyers seem to have expected it to (optically magnified pixels offer no informational benefit, unlike optically magnified grain in a film negative). This loupe serves two functions: a) it eliminates overpowering sunlight from the screen; b) it enables focusing your eye that close to the screen. It is well made, and the included zippered pouch has a belt loop. You may wish to buy or devise a hands-off means of attaching the loupe to the screen; keep in mind that the elastic cord solutions don't work with an extended tilt screen, and the tripod socket attachment devices preclude use of a camera quick-release plate. Great product!

This product does what it advertises, allows you to view your lcd screen outdoor in sunlight to view camera settings and photos taken. Might not seem like a big deal but try viewing your lcd in sunlight and you'll know what I'm talking about. Just place it against the lcd screen and you're able to view the screen. Simple but effective. The product is lightweight and seems well made. Got mine on sale for $55.00 and it comes with a case and lanyard. The product is lightweight and small enought to fit just about anywhere in one's bag and seems well made. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who shoots outdoors.

There is nothing like downloading images and seeing they are slightly out of focus or not what you want. The Hoodman allows me to view critical shots to be sure they are what I need. The only improvement I would like to see is a simple clip on setup so the viewer can be attached like the LCD cover. Hoodman does offer a add on rail however it's bulky and expensive.

A must for any lens over 200mm or wider than 20mm. Doesn't replace camera mounted loupe for video but; for still work it hangs around till you need it. OP

The Hoodman Loupe is used to critically evaluate the image just shot in order to make adjustments for the next one. It is especially useful on sunny day when you can barely see the image. I also use it when shooting video clips. By holding the Hoodman Loupe to the back of the camera, it is great for following the action. It is well made and has a great adjustable lens to focus for your eye. I'll bet I've helped sell a lot of these when sharing the use of my Hoodman Loupe with fellow photographers. People are amazed how clearly they can seen their image using the loupe, especially on a bright sunny day.

Portable, easy to use. Makes pictures a lot clearer to see than looking a 3 inch screen on my Canon Mark III.

I own an Nikon 5100. This is an excellent product to use to take movies at the beach or in bright sunlight. The eyepiece "focus" lens in the hood is high quality. I should have looked up the definition of a "loupe" because I was disappointed that the hoodloupe did not affix itself to the LCD display. One needs to hold it on the screen while shooting. The Hoodloupe comes with a neck strap and a case. Hoodman offers a "crane" that attaches to the flash shoe and will hold the hood on the LCD display. The combination of the two make this an expensive addition to the camera, but absolutely overcomes the sunlight washing out the live display problem.

In bright sun I consider the Hoodsman to be an essential tool. This is my third one. The first I stupidly lost. The second I lost due to a flawed and really silly design, the streatchable o-ring that attached the lanyard. This one appears to have the same o-ring with a stop gap method of keeping it from stretching. I will see how that works. Not impressed with the dinky plastic snap for removing the lanyard. Would really prefer something that seemed a little more secure. Sometimes gimping up a product doesn't make it better, just gimperier. The hoodsman is a great product, sorry they feel it needs the gimp. The lanyard easily slips over my head if I need it "unattached."

Eliminates the problem of glare on your DSLR's LCD. Also magnifies 3X. It allows you to better judge your focus and exposures immediately. Especially good for older eyes.

As stated in the advertising, placing this over your LCD screen on the back of a digital camera of 3" or less allows you to see the image even in the brightest light (sun).

I've always struggled to see the LCD screen outside and consequently have missed the exposure feedback on occasion. Now it is easy to see the Histogram and picture. Nice easy to focus optics. My only complaint is the [$] price tag. But, until someone else makes a similar product you have to pay the price.
