great lens

Wonderful as both a macro and a telephoto. As a macro, the stand off distance is helpful in getting light to the subject.

Had this lens for a few months

I bought this lens a few months ago. I have been using it for some nature photography and it is a very nice lens. Very sharp. I'm a little spoiled and do miss the autofocus but this makes me set up the picture more carefully so I like it. Very sharp images.

Irix 150 2.8 macro

Well constructed with excellent resolution. Has manual focus but auto aperture. The tripod mount of the lens is a great help with macro shots. The focusing is smooth with plenty of turning radius. The only drawback for me is that with the lens attached to my Canon 80D the battery depletes rapidly even if the camera is turned off.

Great lens

It's an amazing lens, sharp, nice colors, and really versatile. Only down side is no image stabilization, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Sharp, Rock-solid, Beautiful

I highly recommend this lens for anyone interested in macro photography. It's sharp, easy to use, and very well constructed -- not to mention beautiful. It *can* also be used for portraits, but bear in mind it's manual-focus-only with a very narrow depth of field. A bit heavy for handheld shots, but no more so than other lenses in its class.

Great Lens for the Price

I got this because I am kind of tired of using extension tubes. 150mm is a good focal length and f/2.8 lets in a lot of light. It is manual focus, which makes shooting handheld a bit difficult as the focus depth is very shallow when close up to a subject. This will be much better with a tripod and focus stacking. It arrived from Adorama as promised in good packaging. The lens and accessories were in good shape. There is currently not a lightroom correction profile for this lens, but it really doesn't need much correction. A couple of days after it arrived, I had a chance to go out in the morning to some bright yellow flowers where I new some bees would be and take a few shots. This was all handheld with little breeze. The attached images were shot with a Nikon D750 and have very little cropping (mainly just a square crop). For the price, I really don't have a complaint. The Nikon 200mm macro with auto-focus is nearly three times what this lens costs. I would say that it is a good value.

About IRIX 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro Lens for Canon EOS Cameras

With its focal length of 150mm and 1:1 scale of reproduction, these are the basic features of the new product that allows comfort working with small objects. Thanks to the possibility of being able to move away from the photographed object, this makes the operation more convenient than using lenses with a shorter focal length. No shadows are cast on the object and it is also possible to use lamps dedicated to this type of photography.

wide rubber handle

The Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 lens is equipped with an aperture mechanism consisting of 11 rounded blades that maintain a circular shape within the entire available working range.

wide rubber handle

Thanks to this, when shooting with a wide open aperture, a pleasant background blur is obtained; when closed right down, the diffraction appears much later.

Focus Lock

The Irix 150mm f / 2.8 Macro 1:1 lens has been sealed in key points (the front element, the Focus Lock ring, the focusing ring and bayonet), making it suitable for use in the harshest of weather conditions such as fog, rain or snow.

The Irix 150mm f / 2.8 Macro 1:1 lens

The Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 lens is equipped with an internal focusing system (IF) so that the lens does not change its dimensions when focusing, thus maintaining a compact size and better sealing.

150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:

The Irix 150mm f / 2.8 Macro 1:1 lens is the first model available in the new version with the Dragonfly finish, in which the aluminium frame has been enclosed in an external structure made of aluminium-magnesium alloys and composite elements. The combination of Firefly and Blackstone features gave the lens lightness and solidity while maintaining high mechanical strength and resistance in difficult weather conditions.
