Great film for fun in the sun

I love Portra 160 for summer daytime photos. You can get some lovely color variation by over-exposing it a couple stops for some pastel tones, or a half-stop underexposed to add contrast. In general, it isn't as contrasty as Portra 400, which is a good thing - you can always add contrast afterward. Tons of detail if metered well. Tons of latitude helps to make shots in direct sunlight tamed a bit.

Old reliable!

I love 160 for long bright summer days. I tend to shoot it at 100 and love the results. Would recommend to anyone! Just keep some 400 on hand for the evening

A Staple for Serious Film Shooters - Portra 160 Delivers Every Time

Portra 160 is one of those rare films that consistently lives up to the hype. If you're looking for beautifully balanced color, exceptional skin tones, and ultra-fine grain, this is it. I've shot weddings, portraits, street photography, and even landscapes with this film, and it never disappoints. The dynamic range is incredible - highlights are smooth, shadows hold detail, and the latitude gives you plenty of flexibility if you're over- or under-exposing a bit. It scans like a dream, making post work a breeze if you're hybrid shooting. Compared to Portra 400, the 160 speed gives noticeably finer grain and a slightly more muted, pastel-like color palette that's perfect for daylight or controlled lighting. It brings a soft, almost painterly look that's both nostalgic and timeless. The 5-roll pack is a great deal for anyone serious about film photography - whether you're stocking up for a project or just want to make sure your camera's never empty. Kodak nailed it with this emulsion. It's reliable, elegant, and essential.

Best Color Medium Speed Film Left on Earth

One of the best and most reliable medium speed films ever made... Happens to be one of the best left on earth. As film photography as a medium slowly seeps away, Portra 160 is holding out as a: high resolution perfect skin tone rendering champion. For those who enjoy the process of shooting on film, this stock is an underrated touch of perfection. Colors are not oversaturated and unnatural. Tones are really wide (high dynamic range when exposed properly). A reliable joy to use. I won't give it up until I'm gone or there are no more rolls of it left on earth.

The best Kodak film

Definitely one of - if not the best of all Kodak films. Portra 400 is great... But it isn't as sharp as 160... It isn't as good with color as 160.... It doesn't enlarge or print as large as 160. Outside of speed is 160. I say there's Portra 160 and Portra 800 that is all. Shame Fuji didn't have Kodak to make it for them.

Overexpose it a Touch, and Enter Dreamland!

I absolutely love Portra 160. The grain is practically nonexistent in 4x5, and the colors are almost dreamlike, especially when overexposed a touch. I tend to rate it at ISO 100, but it can handle even more than that. Great for portraits AND landscapes. Magical stuff!

Love it!

Love the color & fine grain out of this film stock! I don't shoot it too often, but I'm always happy with the results when I do. Looking forward to doing more studio work with 160 this winter.

Couldn't be happier with the film quality but the prices don't exactly scream value

Best film for scanning

Best scannable emulsion out there. Accurate but more subdued color compared to Ektar and very decent exposure latitude.

Beautiful colors, sharp film

Portra 160 is one of my favorite stocks because it has such a balanced color palette. I love P400 as well but sometimes it's warmer than I want for a given photo. I've used 160 for a wedding and for street work/landscape and love the results I get.
