If the ear cusions were twice as thick to keep the screens in front of the drivers off of your ears, they would be perfect. These things are like a vise anyway, and if they were to only rest on the cushions, just resting on your head, and not your ear too, would be awesome. Two hours watching a movie was torture, very uncomfortable. Like I said, redesign the cushions and you got a world beater, especially when used with a Schiite Valhalla 2 headphone tube amp. I got a set of these for fathers day, they did not like my HK3490Z unless I turned up the volume, a lot. Burned them in for a week, got a lot better, but still needs more volume than these old ears can handle for more than a 20 or thirty minutes. Got out an old Realistic STA46 receiver and they sounded a lot warmer, much more base, but not as good on the highs. Borrowed the headphone amp and, wow. I am sending them back to Koss and getting the ProAAAT. I hope they are more comfortable, and from what I have read, have the added base, without having to max out the tone control. They just need a better ear cusion for comfort. If you have a smaller head, that would be a big plus used as is as far as the comfort issue. Bring back the HV1A with a modern cushion and Koss could not make enough of them. Thanks! Charlie

Can't believe these phones are still around. Listened to them in the early 70's on old records and they sound great. Look at the frequency response. That ought to tell you something. Extremely low distortion and the earpieces keep all the nasty sounds out!!!. You know like the neighbor and the kids etc. Personally I listen too Pipe Dreams religously and these are the best way to hear it. You can double or triple the cost and still not equal the sound.
