Fun, fun, fun.

Wonderful tool. Sweet spot tack sharp. Easy to use and lots of fun. A bit of slack in focusing ring.

Fun to create effect

Fun little lens. I've seen some pretty creative photos taken with it and had to try it myself. I just wish it supported auto-focus. It can sometimes be tough to get the subject that you want to be in focus really sharp when you're looking through a tiny view finder and tilting the lensbaby. Just take your time and manually focus for some pretty cool results. If it did support auto-focus, just imagine the action shots you could get with one of these! (in case the manufacturer is reading)

So much fun!

When I first started in photography all I wanted was the camera to do everything for me. Now, I am a control freak. And, how fun is it to change the apeture with a magnet and rings. And, the Lensbaby gives such an awesome effect. Don't be afraid of the manual focus, it will help you remember to concentrate on a picture.

Great item explore new areas

great item I've used it only for past 2 weeks, having alot of fun with it. I've learned however that in the camera preview pane the sweet spot can appear in focus when you actually have the sweet spot only near the subject and not at the subject. Since the sweet spot is so small it is really important to get it in the right place or the viewer's eye will go to the wrong spot when looking at the photo.

Not worth it at any price

This thing is garbage simple as that. It's an outdated concept that doesn't interest most people.

Fun, toy lens

Special purpose lens. I don't use mine very often, but I do like the results. Aperture changing is a little slow and annoying.

Get Artsy

I like to use it for photographing people; mostly engagements and weddings outdoors as you need a lot of light for it to work well (it's all manual). I have days when it works great, and days where I can't get a decent shot. Could be me...it takes practice, but I really like it when it works!

I like it!

I'm just a casual photographer...I'm still getting use to the lens, but I like the outcome so far.

Learning curve.

Makes you learn how to use your camera on manual. Great fun once you get accustomed to changing setting.

Not up to expectations

I bought the lensbaby with the macro kit, .6 wide, 1.6 tele and 52mm Adapter/Shade. Unfortunately the accessories only mount on the lens and can't be used in combination. So, no macro and 1.6 tele or .6 wide and filter. Also cheaply made, focus mechanism is jerky and the tilt lock changes the focus. When you add up the total cost, it's also expensive.

Lensbaby Composer

It is a cool product and has some great capabilities. It is a good way to try something new, and helps bring new ideas to the table. It just might be able to get you out of a potential creative slump.

High Quality Images

It's not a toy, it's a great lens that makes you think what you really want to achieve. The quality of the images is more than I expected and is forcing me to improve my skills as a photographer, to plan ahead what I want to achieve, the only downside I see to it is that is difficult to focus in low light conditions.

Love me Lensbaby!

Such cool effects can be achieved with this lens. Much nicer effect than trying to fabricate it in photoshop. Very easy to use too!

nice toy

It makes an interesting effect, which can be nice sometimes. It can be nice as a creative tool, to spark creative ideas. However, it's cheap plastic, cheaply made. I think it should cost half as much as it does, or less.

Useful tool

The Lensbaby Composer is a great tool for very specific uses. I bought it mainly as a DSLR video lens, to allow depth-of-field manipulation while shooting video interviews and B-Roll. It takes a little practice to learn to control the Lensbaby, but it does exactly what you'd expect and allows some very quick run-n-gun shooting while capturing unique images. There is a tendency to over-use a tool like this, but if you're careful, you can come back with pleasing, useful results. The Lensbaby is well-constructed and I never feel like it's anything less than a professional lens. The focus control is far looser than any other lens I own, but once you get used to it, there really is no issue. In fact, the looseness seems to work best if you are using the lens for video capture.

Love the Baby

Since I have purchased my Lensbaby composer, I pretty much leave it on all the time. It is a manual focus lens and takes some practice as try to figure out the sweet spot. The effects you get are really cool and I like how it adds depth and motion to my shots. You have to adjust your aperture through rings that you manually install, sounds crazy but it is really easy and I switch out apertures a lot.

More fun than the Control Freak

I love the Lensbaby products. The easiest way to explain this lens is that its a point and shoot version of the Control Freak. You can pick it up, quickly focus, and shoot. The optic swap system makes this lens incredibly versatile, allowing you to quickly switch between fisheye, macro, or a bunch of other options. If you're on the fence between this and the Control Freak as your first Lensbaby lens, get the Composer if you're going to be in the field more than in the studio.

happy right out of the box

i just received mine in the mail, after a few adjustments(i'm using a nikon,it has to be full manual) i was getting great shots,it seems more useful outdoors right now, as indoor lighting can be a bit tricky. I receive new lights in the morning,so further tests will tell. I cant wait to get some of the lens swaps, and macro attachments. I'm planning on using this for stop animation, if i can get the indoor lighting set right. although slow shutter would probably help that too. great product.

Wonderful tool. Sweet spot tack sharp. Easy to use and lots of fun. A bit of slack in focusing ring.

With the Composer, Lensbaby introduces a completely new lens, based on a ball and socket configuration that delivers smooth selective focus photography with unparalleled ease. The Composer retains its position after being bent and is easy to use even with one hand.

Photographers no longer have to squeeze the lens to focus, but can simply tilt the lens to a desired angle and then focus with a traditional barrel focusing ring. The Composer stays in the desired bent position without requiring a locking mechanism and features the new Lensbaby Optic Swap System.

The Composer features a unique manual focus design which requires more rotation to move the optic as you approach infinity. This makes it easier to focus on objects at intermediate and distant depths than regular manual focus lenses.

All Lensbaby lenses bring one area of a photo into sharpest focus with that Sweet Spot surrounded by gradually increasing blur. By bending the Lensbaby lens, the photographer moves the sharp area around the photo for customized creative effects.
