I have the non soft Astra as well. This one works great alone or paired with the non soft version. I do use a modifier with the other one if I want to match the quality of light from this one. I would say it is a stop or so less powerful than the brightest regular Astra 1x1. I'd give it 5 stars if it cost $500 less
