These are strong and can handel large strobes with modifers easly. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is there stacking ability is not as easy and versitial as the Kupo equivlent stands.

Had to return the 144" because they were too tall when minimized. The Manfrotto website said the minimum height of these was 39" which would just fit in my recently broken Fovitec 40" light stand case. But when minimized they're about 43", so I'll have to go with the bigger 44" Fovitec case when I replace the broken one. Love the construction.

These light stands are a great balance of stability and portability. The locking hardware and joints are very strong, and they extend much higher than I had expected. The air-cushioned feature is great when taking down lights. They don't collapse down quite as small as cheaper light stands, but they more than make up for it with their strength and stability.

I decided after my low budget tripods could not hold up my soft boxes without tipping over, even inside, that I needed to get some more serious gear. If you are like me and debating if it is worth the money to upgrade your tripods, just do it. You will not regret it, these are such a step up in quality and stability. They are lightweight and easy to use. I would still use sandbags outside, but I can't imagine anything this lightweight being more stable!

Manfrotto has hit the nail on the head. In a sea of aluminum, air-cushioned light stands, many just won’t hold up and are more a disposable commodity. These are anything but. Sturdy, thick, well-built. They’ll last a good while, more than long enough to pay themselves off and then some. The 3-pack offering is brilliant, since jsut one of these stands isn’t enough. A great package price for a great set of stands.
