Great tripod head. Holds my 4x5 with no problem.

I use it to hold Rebel Xsi + Grip and Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS or Canon 100mm f/2.8. I do not use tripod collars so all of the weight is on the battery grip. Nevertheless this ball head holds it all and does not creep at all. It is a little heavy but I don't have to worry about it not being strong enough to hold my setup. I use it on a Slik carbon fiber 613--which looks a little odd because the Slik is thin, but no matter, it works just fine.

Although I've never used the more expensive ballheads this ballhead has been excellent and has given me a reason to use my tripod again. Deffinately worthwhile to someone not looking to drop a large amount of cash on a tripod.

Love this ball head. It's quite a bit bigger than the pics lead you to believe. For the money this one can't be beat.

Great peice of equipment, very smooth and steady. It is a little heavy but is worth it to keep camera steady

You can spend more money for a plastic spring loaded 'quick action' grip but I would rather save the money, have more reliability and rigidity and the large hex shaped metal quick release plate!!!

I have a Slik tripod with a 1/4" in mounting screw. The Bogen has a 3/8", which is good, but I still had to get an adaptor for my tripod. Check your tripod mount to make sure it'll work when your ballhead arrives.

Wonderful piece of equipment! Any new item takes a little learning like how much to tighten the knob and lever! It sure beats having to adjust two 9” long awkward handles plus a third little lever to pan. The only problem with the Manfrotto Midi Ball Head is (was) the quick release 3049-camera plate extended just enough over the battery compartment door of my Canon Rebel XTi that the door could not be opened to change the battery with out removal/reinstallation of the quick release plate. I simply used a file on that side of the hexagon release plate and removed about 3/32 of an inch of material to provide clearance for the door.
