Overall this item is very well designed. It is durable and it definitely can hold the camera quite well. It was a bit confusing to set up at first because the tightening screw was getting in the way of the camera but you can pull it to adjust it so it is not on the way, thank God for that. It does have some weight to it though so you have to keep that in mind if you are using it on things such as a gimbal. I use it on the original Feiyu Tech a2000 gimbal so I can have the same quick release on my monopod, tripod, and gimbal and not have to waste time switching between them. The weight of it adds up so I can’t use a mic and a light on my camera since my gimbal cant handle it. Not a problem since i can set the camera and the light else where. just keep in mind the weight of the lens might be a problem if your gimbal can barely handle the camera with this piece. overall it solved my problem, made things easier and quicker. I’m happy so i’m rating it a 5!

Great for attachments onto gimbals, rigs, and otherwise. Works with all other Manfrotto plates. Would be nice if it had a place for rails, but otherwise a great accessory to have on set/site.

This plate is heavy duty and stout. Great build quality and easy to use. the plate slides on easy and comes off just as easy with the push of the button. But it will not fall off if placed in and not tightened. This has been great for when I need to go from tripod to handheld.

Beware, the 2 units I received have plastic plugs instead of the spring loaded brass locator pin on the top plate. An inferior product, compared to previous version. The photo does not show the current version with the black plastic plugs.

Great for tripods or arms than don't have Quick Release capability. Allows you to quickly change cameras, binoculars or whatever with another 501PL Plate. Saves the fuss of attaching your camera each time with the mounting screw: Simply release the plate and swap in another device. Even has mounting holes for the extra unused mounting screw (1/4x20and 3/8x16 both supplied). Couldn't get along without it.

I put this plate on everything. It's strong, heavy, which I like, and plain convenient. My only complaint is that you can't find the bottom plate for sale anywhere without the top plate that mounts to the camera itself. It's unhealthy expensive.

This quick release system and the Manfrotto plates associated with it are the most reliable and affordable system I have found. I put these on all DSLR cameras I use so that I can quickly move from sticks, to slider, to shoulder mount without ever changing a plate. It's been a real life saver. I have had one break on me. But the cost is reasonable enough to simply justify a replacement. Highly recommended.

I am using it for a diy steadicam, and it works exactly as described. It's much better than screwing and unscrewing the camera off every time. It's also very versatile when I have to balance the steadicam, because I can slide it forward and backward.

I have been using Manfrotto products since 1988,I needed a quick release for a light weight bogen tripod that I wanted to use for weddings. This product works great, they shipped same day for me and I used it the last 2 weekends. I need to go from handheld to tripod quickly and it works flawlessly. The phone guys always point me in the right direction, as I was able to take an older quality tripod and turn it into something I will use everyday.

I purchased this to use on my slider setup so I could easily go between the slider and a set of sticks. I've also used it with my glidecam but the knob on the side tends to get in the way when I go to crank it down. Over all, I am happy with the product. Service was superb! I recived the product in less than 24 hours from the time that I ordered it.

Purchased to allow DSLR use on my Vinten video/film tripod. The Vinten is a bit of a beast and overkill for lightweight dslr use, but you cant beat its silky smooth movements, so making it compatible was a must. This little guy did the trick.

You will need more than one if you want to take advantage of the quick release onto another set up. I currently have three. One on my still tripod another on my video head and lastly on the Merlin. This makes it real easy to go from one support to another with a push of a button.

I use this as a quick release adapter to mount the camera onto a slider, a stabilizing rig, or a tripod head. What I really like about it is its stability, ease of use and the value for money. A big plus is the fact that it also works very well with the Sideload S quick release plate (140x50 mm) from the Sachtler FSB video head series. This may be helpful to know since Sachtler does not seem to have any equivalent mount adapters for 3/8" mounts.

Neither Bogan nor Adorama has ever let me down so I am not surprised with this great purchase. I bought the qucikrelease for my steady cam so I can go from tripod to steady cam in just a few seconds. I have not used it on a shoot yet but practice has so far proved to be good.
