Don?t buy this

I have had manfrotto tripods for 30 years. Yes, they are heavy, but the stability is unmatched. This is the second BeFree I have tried and I don?t like either one. I especially don?t like this one because the plate is not a quick release plate. I am returning it.

Keep moving...

You need herculean strength and needle nose plier fingertips to unscrew the knob that releases the quick release plate. I had to turn my camera forcefully (while mounted) and use one of those vinyl grip jar openers to be able to get that little knob to turn. It's positioned in between the bottom of the battery flip on the camera and one of the grips on the tripod. Awful!

Awesome and versatile travel tripod head

This head is extremely sturdy and well built. I was a little nervous because of the small size, but it has had no problems handling my full frame mirrorless with adapted Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 Art (pretty heavy lens) locked in place, even in portrait orientation. Super happy with it. It won't pack down super tiny for traveling, but is still small enough to travel with, while sturdy and functional enough to be primary tripod head for most uses.

A Match Made in Sony Heaven

What a nifty tripod for my Sony a7III! The steps to maneuvering this thing are easy from jump street. The legs are sturdy, the fluid head is smooth, and all the nooks and crannies are secure enough to hold my camera and accessories confidently. This thing can even act as a steadycam when flattening the legs out. The customized plate for the Sony a7 is a match made in heaven. What do I not like, you ask? Nothing! If you have a Sony a7 series, this tripod was literally made for you! Thanks Manfrotto, you did it again!

Excellent Tripod Head at a Bargain Price

The head is very stable, even for a heavy tele. The only caution is the mounting plate - be sure to engage the very tapered 2 sides of the plate. The other 2 sides of the plate are tapered, but not enough to secure the camera . Good quality, but be aware and be careful.
