So Far, So Good

I purchased this product after research seemed to prove it was the best choice for my application. I bought it to connect a new Sony A7R body to an extensive selection of Canon EF and L lenses. So far I have been impressed with the performance and it seems to mirror the advertising the Metabones web site states. I have tested tilt and shift, prime, small zoom and large zoom (all Canon) and found no unusual problems other than occasional slow focus and that was clearly stated as a possiblity in several reviews. The adapter is well made, fits both camera and lens combination securely and the tripod mount works well to remove additional weight strain between the lens and camera combination.

Does Exactly What It's Supposed To Do

While I certainly wish this had the ability to support autofocus, it isn't a huge deal for landscape stuff. The Metabones adapter is small, light and doesn't get in the way. The only thing that could be better is that when attaching Canon lenses to it, the fit is very very tight. So much so that there are actually rub marks on the contact surfaces of my lenses. I'm sure it's not a big deal but it could be smoother. Also doesn't seem to change the image quality at all.

Lets re-think this one

Yes the auto-focus works but its so slow. With the A7R I always manual focus. If I could I would buy a cheaper adapter that passes aperture and lens info but does not autofocus.

Solid

Works as advertised, focus is a little slow but it's accurate and allows for full aperture control, EXIF, IS, etc. It's a little "tight" mounting to lenses, that's the only real negative.

Great Adapter...Works As Promised

This works exactly as described and is of the highest quality. The only drawback to this is that when you put a canon lens on the camera with the adapter you suddenly have a much larger camera. If you like the Nex cameras for their size this could me a drawback, but really the only one. Great product!
