Top of the Line Nikon Lens

This lens provides great results when photographing landscapes and close-up objects. The color reproduction is fabulous, providing a true representation of what is being photographed. I photograph desert scenes and wild horses with this lens and achieve great shots.

The best portrait lens

The Nikon 28-70 VR II lens is an excellent choice for portrait photography. The zoom range is perfect for capturing headshots and full-body shots, and the VR (Vibration Reduction) technology allows for sharp images even when shooting at lower shutter speeds. The bokeh produced by this lens is beautiful and creamy, making it easy to isolate the subject and create a pleasing background blur. The build quality is also top-notch, with a sturdy and durable construction that feels great in the hand. Overall, I highly recommend this lens for any portrait photographer looking for a versatile and high-quality option.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E VR - Incredible!!!!

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E VR Lens - I was very happy with the original version of this lens and then, I purchased this version and it did not change the game, it shifted the paradigm. Is it the Nano Crystal Technology? Is it the bigger front element? Is it the Vibration Reduction (VR)? I don't know at this point but I can tell you that the images are sharper, crisp, great color saturation and overall better than ever before. I love the lens and it is a fixture in my bag. It do not matter if it is on the D700s or the D800s it just plan makes me happy as I am working post production. I am an old school photographer that still holds on to my Hasselblads, F3, F100, F5 and F4 so I do most of the work inside the camera. If you can afford to, get yourself one and re-discover your passion for photography. Yes, I recommend it and once you start shooting with it, so will you.

Absolutely Superb

I purchased this to replace my broken Tamron first gen 24-70 f/2.8. I was very happy with that lens before it broke, but when I saw the difference in the image quality and sharpness in the corners, and overall increased resolution, I was blown away. The Tammy was a good lens for the time, and for my budget then, but now I have this, and will very much need and use the weather sealing as well, as the lack of this is what undid the Tamron. I shoot often in rain or at the ocean, two things I love, but most camera gear does not! This finally will allow me to get the full potential out of my well loved Nikon D810

The original was excellent but the VR version has stolen it original's lunch!

Fresh out of the box and the differences are very noticeable. I purchased this one to replace the one that I bought 7 years ago and has been my workhorse for the entire period. First, the 82mm front element tells me that this is going to be different. I attached my mandatory UV filter and then the D800 body and the MarkII R2 trigger to the hot shoe and we were off. The focusing is extremely fast and quiet. Took a couple of shots of one of my orchids that I usually use as test subjects and the difference was apparent. This was a good move. Fast, crisp, quiet and sharp. No regrets on the purchase at thos point. The older model will be sent in for cleaning and go into the bag as a backup. I do tons of events and I am sure that I will be updating this review. If you can scratch together the bucks, it is worth every penny. Buy it now, don't wait!

Outstanding Nikon lens!

I had been wanting this lens after purchasing the D-750 in 2014; however, the original high cost did not allow. With the recent $500 discount, I decided to purchase the lens from Adorama. The lens is fantastic, with lightning fast focus and beautiful colors. It is definitely the best lens in my collection. I must admit that it is relatively heavy, but I hope to match it with a D-850 with a grip in the future.

The Magic Lens

Oh my?. This 24-70mm is ?The Cats Meow?..! On my D7200, I?ve gotten so many compliments, on how crisp and clean my photos are. I?ve been told that I was the only one that made someone actually feel good about themself, because she was so happy how her photos looked! Not only is this an Investment, it?s Magic.. Semper Fi

Not only a wedding photography lens!

Overall excellent lens with added VR technology. However the lens is weather seal but not air tight seal, so moisture can slip into the lens, and if the humidity level is high, its possible to see the lens become foggy! I therefore recommend to keep the hood on to avoid moisture penetration through the zoom elements.

Dogs are terrified ? High frequency sound?

Lens takes good pics but-I bought it to take portraits of people and dogs. My dogs are terrified of it! It must make a high frequency sound; because even if they?re asleep they wake ups bd bolt from the room when I press the shutter halfway. They?ve never reacted like this to any other lens. Nikon was less than helpful. I should have returned it. I?ve spoken with others who use the lens with animals-and don?t have this response. I suspect it?s this particular lens I?m really sorry I spent so much (this was Nikon refurbished lens)

About Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens

Be at the helm of your photographic journey with Nikon's superior 24-70mm f/2.8E ED AF-S NIKKOR VR Lens, the ultimate tool for professionals seeking to capture every detail of every moment. This lens is a refined version of its iconic predecessor, boasting state-of-the-art Vibration Reduction (VR) technology. With an impressive four stops of image stabilization, this lens enables photographers to seize crystal-clear shots even in challenging light conditions, from dimly lit wedding venues to unpredictable outdoor events.

For landscape enthusiasts, the Tripod Mode ensures maximum clarity, while filmmakers will appreciate the depth-of-field control paired with this stabilization. The lens also features an Electromagnetic Aperture control, ensuring consistent exposures during high-speed shooting sequences. This means every frame is precisely captured, no matter how fast the action unfolds.

The 24-70mm f/2.8E ED AF-S NIKKOR VR Lens is not just about technical advancements; it's about delivering unparalleled optical excellence. The introduction of the Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion (ASP/ED) element, combined with traditional aspherical, ED, and High-Refractive Index (HRI) elements, signifies a significant shift in optical precision. Expect photographs and videos characterized by a harmonious blend of sharpness, subtle blur effects, and minimal aberrations. The Nano Crystal Coat further reduces ghosting and flare instances.

Built for resilience and precision, this lens is meticulously sealed against harsh elements, and the fluorine coating on its front and rear elements repels dirt, moisture, and smudges. With 20 elements in 16 groups, the lens's optical design is formidable. Its 9-blade diaphragm crafts naturally blurred backgrounds that aesthetically complement the subject.

The 24-70mm focal length is ideal for a range of scenarios, from serene landscapes to bustling press events. With a constant f/2.8 aperture, this lens excels in low-light, capturing fast-moving subjects with a beautiful bokeh blur. The lens employs a non-spherical surface to counter aberrations, ensuring compactness without compromising on clarity. Nikon's ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass and HRI (High Refractive Index Lens) work together to rectify chromatic aberrations, delivering stellar optical performance in a sleek body.

The lens also features an innovative focusing system with an IF lens, allowing for closer focusing distances. The M/A Focusing Mode allows for a near-instantaneous switch between automatic and manual focusing just by turning the focusing ring. Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat virtually eradicates internal lens reflections across numerous wavelengths, drastically reducing ghost and flare caused by oblique light. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) employs ultrasonic vibrations to focus the lens, resulting in a smooth, silent, and precise autofocus. Every optical element in this NIKKOR lens receives a multilayer coating, ensuring optimal light transmission and minimal reflections.

For professionals seeking top-tier performance and undeniable quality, the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR is more than a lens - it's a commitment to photographic excellence.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens Features

  • Optical precision to the edge of the frame: A first for NIKKOR lenses, a new Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion (ASP/ED) element is paired with traditional AS, ED and HRI elements for a thrilling new level of optical precision.
  • Versatility, speed and durability: 24-70mm is the sweet spot of the zoom range for many photographers, great for everything from landscapes and studio work to weddings and press events. The f/2.8 constant aperture allows for faster shutter speeds to freeze fast action, renders a beautiful bokeh blur and performs brilliantly in low light
  • 4.0 stops of Vibration Reduction: Nikon's Vibration Reduction image stabilization technology. It reduces camera shake and vibration up to ~4.0 stops. Capture sharp, steady handheld stills and HD videos, and shoot at slower shutter speeds in low-light situations without sacrificing sharpness. Versatility, enhanced.
  • Aspherical Lens: A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture.
  • Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism: An electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel provides highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting. With conventional D/G type lenses, the diaphragm blades are operated by mechanical linkage
  • ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass: An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.
  • HRI: HRI stands for High Refractive Index Lens. With a refractive index of more than 2.0, one HRI lens can offer effects equivalent to those obtained with several normal glass elements and can compensate for both field curvature and spherical aberrations. Therefore, HRI lenses achieve great optical performance in an even more compact body.
  • IF Lens: A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.
  • M/A: Select NIKKOR lenses have a focusing mode which allows switching from automatic to manual focusing with virtually no lag time by simply turning the focusing ring on the lens. This makes it possible to seamlessly switch to fine manual focusing while looking through the viewfinder.
  • Nano Crystal Coat: An anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths. Nano Crystal Coat solves ghost effects caused by red light and effectively reduces ghost and flare caused by light entering the lens diagonally.
  • Silent Wave Motor: AF-S NIKKOR lenses feature Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM), which represents a significant advance in AF lens technology. SWM uses ultrasonic vibrations rather than a gear system to focus the lens, providing incredibly smooth, silent and precise autofocus operation.
  • Super Integrated Coating: Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses.
