It's a great camera for taking outdoor pictures & has an amazing zoom, but I never did figure out how to have good indoor 'non blurry' photos---even with the flash! That was a bit of a pain, but I got many a good picture with it, & if you get lithium batteries, they last forever in it! Also takes great videos.

I've used this camera long enough to write a review for it. It is originally my grandma's camera, and I've used it on and off for almost 2 years. I had the best experience with it this weekend, the longest time period I've been able to use it. I discovered the capabilities this camera has, such as the Panorama Assist feature and the great quality during video mode. If you set it up right and have good natural sunlight, this camera can reach really nice focusing ranges. The trees around here are leaf-less and the branches can blend together, so when the camera focused in on a bird, I was amazed. Did the same in video mode. All those people who were talking about blurry photos probably over zoomed images, didn't have good lighting, or didn't let the camera focus. This camera focuses all on it's own, so sometimes you won't have that amazing picture you hoped for. If you're planning on doing any Bokeh-style images (purposefully blurring out pictures of lights), it can be done, but the camera with be a little weird for about 5-8 pictures afterwards. Anyway, I hope you have as good of an experience as I have. My Additional Customer Service Feedback: This particular camera is an easy to use, but still professional feeling, point and shoot camera. The features and capabilities of this camera are discovered simply by having fun with it, making it worthwhile.

Ive had this camera since it came out, still have issues with zoom, indoor, kids & movement photos. these photos become blurry and out of focus. when we press the button it takes about 20 sec for the photo to come up on the screen. it's nasty photos. when i take photos outside they are great. wish the software had more options to make dvd's. Self-timer should be more time not 10 or 2 seconds duration or have a cable with a clicker

It takes some descent pictures and good video, but overall this camera has some major issues...for one the shutter button broke after 3 months of light use, and I had to pay shipping both ways to the Nikon repair facility...Also, this camera eats batteries like you would not believe. Takes 4 double AA...they last about 80 shots and some picture review time, and that is it...DEAD...More batteries....More batteries...Get a camera that has a rechargeable battery pack or you will regret it...I originally purchased this camera to replace my 5 year old cheapo Kodak point and shoot...Come to find out that my old cheap Kodak point and shoot (cost me $) has many more nice features like (in camera) panoramic photo stitching and long shutter times for night time long exposure pictures...this camera does not do (in camera) photo stitching and it only has a 4 second maximum exposure time , and only in (fireworks mode)...Missing some basic features that cheap cameras already have...I will not buy another NIKON...

This is probably the best camera for the money that I've used. The only downside is that I can't update the firmware to 1.1 as I don't have a 32-bit operating system. It is very frustrating as I just dropped the money on an sd card that is supported, but only with firmware version 1.1. I cannot find a 64-bit version of the update, nor anyone that still uses 32-bit here. Great camera, but a pain to update. Currently in the market for a new camera because of this issue.

Always wanted to upgrade to a Nikon built camera to improve on the quality of my pictures. The shots of the moon in various stages and the my two dogs playing on the deck came out excellent. My indoor pictures and the sunrise ones really added to my enjoyment. I tried many of the settings and was pleased with the results.

Have had use of L120 for a little more than an year now and overall I give a thumbs up in almost aspects. One functional problem I have encountered and cannot overcome (due to lack of knowledge) is that when in deep telephoto mode the automatic focus system continually hunts for a point to focus on for subjects at a distance of 100ft or more. And there is one design flaw in the placement of exterior buttons on the camera body. The photo review button is exactly where you put your thumb when you pickup the camera, hence it turns the camera on in review mode. This a nuisance. To navigate through the multiple setup menus you need to learn which mode to be in to bring up the menu you want -- not intuitive.

After a few weeks, these problems developed: 1. On starting, I get a message to turn off the camera and remove the lens cap- even tho the cap was not on. The lens cycles in and out and then turns off. 2. On telephoto, the quality of the pics is bad- blurry. The pics are reasonably ok if you use the standard distance and no flash. The flash is too bright almost ALL the time. I took the camera on vacation to Maine and my son's camera, some cheap point and shoot job, made much better pictures than my Nikon. I'm sending it in to Nikon to get fixed. I'm not surprised they don't make this one any more. I'd not recommend this camera to anyone and considering the cost, I would reasonably have expected a much better product.

I feel like a pro with all the pictures I have taken with Nikon Coolpix L120. The camera takes excellent pictures. I have enjoyed using some of the in-camera effects especially the pet picture effect for my dog.

Read the "Quick Start Guide" and I was taking pictures in less than an hour. The menu is easy to understand and use and the monitor is clear and bright.

My brother talked me into this camera. I'm a point and shoot gal. He told me I needed a "real camera". Pretty simple to understand. Got a little help from a friend. She guided me to "menu" and "scene" buttons and it's working good so far. The close up feature is really nice. Lots of scene choices. I might become a photographer yet.

When I got this camera I was focused more on video recording 720p at 29.97FPS wasn't that bad the mic on it is ok but i still prefer something that gives me a option of adding a external microphone. Picture quality is something on the lines of 6 on the 10 scale though it is a Auto Focus camera it is clearly not that great loses focus a lot of the times i try to take a picture but it is a camera it does what it needs to do i would recommend it if your a beginner its a amateur camera but it does what you need it do.

I'm a photographer and own a range of cameras; however, this one is the best for the money. The only thing I would change is there is no 'rapid shoot' option. It takes amazing photos and is very easy to use. Below is a photo I took with the camera, from probably 20+ feet away. Those who say it doesn't focus well apparently are doing something very wrong!

I use my Nikon L120 mostly for filming videos, usually when I play guitar. I must say it makes a really good sound and picture. It really makes good pictures, I really like to take pictures of my dog and flowers with bees. It's easy to use and it makes stunning photos. :)

I have had the coolpix L120 for about 6 months now! I love it, but there are some things that I would change about it. When you zoom in alot, it's hard to keep steady. & It isn't the best in lowlight...Also, the focus doesn't always cooperate with you. It's worth the price & a great camera, just not the one for me.

so in this review I will discuss the pros. and cons. of this camera in my own opinion: pros. • light weight feel • excellent close up photos (ie. flowers) • very good daytime photos • powerful flash • amazing zoom • crystal clear photos • simple to use. • amazing battery life. • built-in auto focus cons. • poor video mode • not as effective in low light scenes • not very many editing features • good battery life, but uses 4 AA batteries • very shaky, and recommended steady hand, or I would consider a tri-pod • takes a while to get used to (not that big of a deal though) overall: I would recommend this camera for beginners who just barely started, and aren't ready to invest in a SLR. As I said It's best to have a steady hand, taking still-life, and landscapes are the best, because I found it hard to capture a non blurry photo of a moving object (it is possible though, it just takes patience.) It's also a nice camera to give to child (10+) who is careful, and is developing a hobby for photography. •

The Nikon L120 is easy to use, fun to use and the picture quality is awesome. I have digital cameras of different brands that cost twice as much as this Nikon L120 and they are no match in picture quality. The macro is fantastic. This camera takes the common double A battery that can be found anywhere and they seem to last almost forever...over 900 shots with rechargable Ni-MH batteries. For all it's great features, and it's fantastic picture quality, no other brand can match it in it's price range. The Nikon L120 is my favorite digital camera of all time.

I am not an expert in photography, but this camera has turn me into one! it is a lot of fun!, it does everything that I want, color, B&W, close, far, I take some amazing pics!. It's great because I always forgot to charge the battery in my other camera, now I just buy them every where. Also is not that big, neither to small, it has like a handle very comfortable, I LOVE IT!!!! I really recommend this product.

This camera is great, all in all. The only down fall that I am aware of, is the camera's poor capability to take night shots, however a simple tripod can fix this. I find that this camera takes wonderful shots in macro mode (close up) and that is basically all that I use the camera for. One thing that I have also discovered is that when I take a shot with dim, or low light, the photo is in poor quality. The odd thing is is that the camera won't use the auto flash unless it is in a certain mode. This can be very annoying when trying to get the perfect shot, and then realizing that you need to quickly change modes to do so. It is clear that this camera's main purpose is to be used outside in daylight, or in bright light.

I have had a love affair with my Nikon D-80 for about 6-7 years now. But, I just recently got the itch to have a simpler camera to use, now & then. So after reading many reviews on the web, I purchased the l120. And I have to say, with a little knowledge on basic photography, a person can take some gorgeous pictures with this camera! For under $., this camera rocks! Granted, the quality is not even in the same league as my D-80, but, I think allot of the negative reviews has mostly to do with not having the settings right. Which is what I LOVE about this camera, great creative control! So once you figure that out, (which is not that hard) I can't see how anyone would not love this camera! Brav-O Nikon!!

I love this camera. It is a good size for travel. The only negative is that the bag that came with the camera has no strap. What good is that? So, I will have to buy a camera bag. Other than that, a great camera.

I purchased this camera in April 2011 however just recently when I take a picture the camera shuts off and says battery exhausted. I shipped it to Nikon to have fixed and when it was returned it still does the same thing. I'm shipping to them again in hopes of having it repaired. This is the first Nikon I have purchased and it takes great pictures.
