SAVE UP!!!!!

This camera is awful. I hate it so much. I got it mainly for a hobby but moved into sports photos. EVERY PICTURE IS BLURY!!!!!!! It is terrible. SAVE UP FOR A DSLR!!!! IT IS WORTH IT!!! EVERY CENT! Trust me. DO NOT GET THIS CAMERA! Save up for a D7200 or something link that, unless you are getting it for simple pictures, but this cannot use good lighting. It is overall a horrible camera, and I cannot believe nikon could ever release this product.

Best camera for the price

Easy to operate and takes great outdoors pictures. The red eye or indoor flash causes people of color to be too pail in some shots. Avoid taking pictures too close to the subject. Use a tripod whenever you want to get a great shot. Overall, I recommend this product.

Love this great camera!

I have used this camera for 2 vacations, Israel and Italy. The picture quality and color is amazing, daytime as well as nighttime shots. I had Shutterfly albums made of both trips, some of the photos were enlarged to 11 x 14 size and they were crystal clear. The camera is simple to use and has lots of setting for various scenes, including one for cats, and all the pictures are very professional looking. The zoom lens has an amazing range, and the price is very affordable.

Lens Error

The picture quality is great and this is a fun to use camera, but after only about 400 pictures it had a lens error while powering on, which is something that has to be sent in for repairs. This issue is covered under the 1 year warranty, but after that it will cost 100 dollars to fix, plus shipping. This seems steep for a camera that originally costs just over 200. Make sure to keep your receipt and warranty card if you decide to purchase this, as this seems to be a common problem.

Great Buy

This camera blew me away. For a point/shoot, this camera has all the bang for the buck you could ask for. It took me about two months of shooting to get comfortable with this camera and what it's tendencies are, but once you take your test shots at varied lighting / distance, it's very simple to use. You get great quality shots for weekend shooters, and it's a great way to get into photography.

Great at first...

For the first few months, the camera worked wonderfully! The zoom was amazing, and the design made it very easy to hold the camera steady when zooming or for videos. However, after a few months, the camera started randomly turning off during videos, and it eventually turned off completely and nothing would turn it back on. Nikon repaired it and it was back to normal at first, but after a few days it wouldn't focus at all. I sent it to be repaired again, but when I got it back the last time, it would only focus when it was zoomed in, and for some reason this specific problem was not covered under the warranty. I definitely enjoyed this camera at first, but I think I'll have to find a new one.

all round great camera @ a great price.

My wife & I bought a Nikon CoolPix L830 to take pictures of my soon-to-be 2 yr old daughter. After reading some reviews & using it briefly @ the store, is because of the shutter response was much quicker the our other Nikon CoolPix. The CP L830 has an insanely great zoom, & takes great pics, & I've spent less than ($) for it.

Fabulous Camera

I bought this camera for quick trips/pictures. It's almost as good as my D300s; almost! I love my Nikon cameras: beautiful pictures, easy to operate, and nice handling. Nikon is the way to go to capture your life.

More than I expected

I live in Colorado where views, good views, are abundant. I just now took a shot, out of my back door, that is of a high meadow about 5 miles away. I was very surprised to be able to make out individual tree branches. If there were any animals up there, I would have been able to see them! That picture was taken at full zoom (68x), and was remarkably clear.

Eats batteries

Love the camera and ease of use. But it tends to use up batteries much faster than I expected and gives no warning before they are unusable. If there's a setting to show this. I haven't found it yet.

Horrible camera

I usually love nikon! I've had a nikon for the last 5 years and I finally wanted to upgrade because my old one was out dated! I used this camera for my sons bday party and more then half the pictures came out white. Those are all moments I can never retake! Thinking it was just a lens error like the camera said I exchanged it for a new one and used it for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and sure enough the same thing happened. Majority of my pictures came out white, they were too bright and I couldn't edit them and fix them. Sure I got one or two good ones for every 10 bad ones but who wants to gamble and maybe miss moments they can never retake, especially with a two year! I was very disappointed in this camera.

Love it

I'm amazed by the clarity when the zoom is used. My compact cameras never could make the pictures this good.

Awesome Point and Shoot with Zoom

Only complaint is it does not have a viewfinder, you need to use the LCD screen. The camera is comfortable and has a great 32x optical zoom with a 64x digital zoom. I can take great pictures of the moon using the digital zoom. Camera is easy to use and the preset settings make pointing and shooting that much easier. Camera does not have wifi or GPS which I am happy about, do not need it and it makes the camera cheaper. Camera is lightweight enough to go hiking with, hiked up a 1464 ft mountain with it no problem. Has a built in 180 or 360 degree panorama setting which is awesome.

Superb overall performance and results

Purchased in May 2014 as a replacement for the P100 and have a lighter, smaller camera for exercise walks. I have only Nikon cameras - 5 35mm and 7 digital. As an avid bird watcher, I take many GBs of birds. This L830 photo quality is nearly equivalent to my D7000. I suspect because the pixels are denser in the L830, the range of computer editing is not as diverse as with the D7000. But the L830 provides wonderful photos. The only disadvantage is not being able to use a viewfinder; the screen is a bit difficult to find birds at a distance, but I'm getting better at it. The zoom power is greater than the 80-400mm for the D7000. But I can't complain for about ($) compared to about ($) Photos below ranged 8 to 11 mb jpg after editing. I've already recommended the L830 to an Apple business specialist who is headed for India.

Awesome Point & Shoot

I purchased the Nikon Coolpix L830 to satisfy my interest in beginner photography (mostly of my dog & wildlife) and it did so very well. The 34x optical zoom is fantastic, and it does not alter the quality of the photo at all. I also use the camera to take pictures of my brother's little league baseball games, and, although there is some blur on the fast moving ball & bat, everything else is crystal clear. At graduation events, I am able to get close up pictures of the perfect moments from the back row. You will not regret buying this camera. The price, the zoom, and the quality make this the perfect beginner point & shoot camera.

Best Camera

My husband bought me this camera about 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love the zoom and how clear the pictures are. When I zoom with other cameras I have, the picture is grainy. With the Nikon Coolpix L830, I can zoom really far and the picture is crystal clear! It is also easy to hold and has a lot of different setting to play around with. I would recommend this camera to everyone.

LOVE THIS L830

Ok, this is a pretty sweet little camera. It makes me look like I know what I'm doing. Not me but the L830 takes great pic's. So if your looking for a new camera take a look at this one you can't go wrong with this one. Well its dumb proof also. it even tells you that you left the lens cap on.it goes to sleep if you forget to turn it off. Love this thing.

Only had 1 Day and LOVE IT!

I LOVE THE L830!!! ....NO ZOOM NOISE DURING FILMING OF VIDEOS! Lots of settings or can be used or can be used in auto mode. I went with the RED and love it, but it shows more fingerprints....no biggie, it looks great! Easy Setup. I especially like using the 4 AA Batteries and not having a lithium battery to charge. I bought a Fujifilm S8200 which is comparable to this camera, but the Zoom noise on the Fuji came thru loud and clear on Video's and the Interlacing was terrible when moving and recording. I think the clarity of the NIKON L830 is far superior in still pics. I will update after a few uses.
