Hope to put this 600mm lens in it! This is beautiful sturdy case. Safe to keep a lens in .right now I am keeping other pieces of equipment and I am not worry about safety,they safe oh yes!! I love this case.

If you do not intend to travel over seas or across the country in using public transportation then I would have no qualms of using this cary case to store and transport the intended 600mm lens, it is very sturdy and has plenty of internal storage for spare drop in filters and the extra low profile mount and plenty of loose storage around the lens once cradled in the resting blocks for lens rain gear, I also suggest getting Desicant packs to throw in the case in case you get caught in the rain with your lens and you wipe off the moisture but it will absorb any trapped moisture from your lens upon storage. The case has standard trunk style hasps with built in luggage style locks for minimum security, but if I were to travel in any public transportation I would suggest the after market purchase of a Pelican Case that doesn't advertise the Name Nikon on the case to distract the hidden treasures inside plus a case like Pelican offers metal reinforced lock eyes that padlocks can be used as well as cushioned interior protection from shock and vibration associated with Aircraft and Rail travel and reckless baggage handlers.
