It works for checking focus but it blocks the viewfinder information at the bottom.

I bought it b/c of my vision problems. I couldn't properly set focus manually. I had to rely on AF and some lenses, like Zeiss were out of the question. Now, with 2x zoom on the eyepiece I see MUCH better if I'm focused where I want to have it. The only con I found (one star down) is b/c the rubber cone falls out of the piece too easily. I will have to glue it on or something. Also you need to know it won't go on your camera directly. For round eyepieces (like D850) it requires D18 thread reduction. For rectangular ones you need D22 but Adorama does not have it so you need to order it separately from Nikon for about $4.50. Original Japanese instructions are very poorly written. Very confusing. But all in all it's a very good piece of your photo gear.

I typically use a Hoodman Eyepiece on my D90. I've found the magnification causes some issues during normal use but is helpful when working with macro photography.

This is totally useless, and not worth the price for the piece or the adapter. I purchased this to photograph nonliving insect specimens, but the resolution is so poor there is nothing to focus on. You basically get a slightly larger and very puffy image to focus on.
