I own 2 MC-36s and when the MC36A came out I bought one. I have 3 cameras, 2 Z9 and a Z8. When shooting sports or action they come in real handy. What I like about them is so easy to setup with flexability in the setup.

Adds a lot of capability! This unit lets you make several settings without chimping over the camera. Hint: for interval use, use manual focus. This saves focus hunting and annoying focus changes. And for short intervals, you don’t miss a trigger while it’s focusing.

I bought this accessory to get a wired remode shutter release for my D850. I have not used any of it's fancy funcetions yet, but I did learn that the remote shutter release function works without any batteries. It has a small white marke on it that matches a mark on my camera to show how it is aligned in order to install it. It does work as one would expect. Great price and a good buy.

I am a Nikon guy through and through, but I have been very disappointed with the MC-36A remote. It is very cheaply made. Not up to normal Nikon standards. When I can get it to work, it prevents me from previewing the image on the camera display. It is really inconvenient to remove he remote to preview the image. You are better off buying a cheaper 3rd party remote than paying top price for the MC-36A

This is evidently a very useful and easy to use gadget. The instructions are easy to follow. Can't wait to use it for fireworks shooting. Diffinitely recommend to my friends.

I am on my second MC-36 and MC-36a. At $200 plus each, it is crazy to not get more than a year of light use. Nikon obviously had to make improvements with the MC-36a from the first generation hence the MC-36a. Considering you can get awful clone knockoffs for $20 and expect them to be awful, I expect more out of Nikon quality. If the price-point was $40, I might not be so harsh, but I expect more at $230!!! I have sent my latest in for repair and we will see what they have to say. The cable should have a field replaceable connection to easily repair the connection where it connects to the remote.

the remote does everything it is supposed to do. However, there is no turn-off switch. To turn off the unit one must remove the batteries and then reinstall at a later day for it to work. Just a small pain! Using it on my D810.
