Small, always with you and plenty good enough.

I picked up one "usd' for a good proce a few months back. The small size really does make this a always with me lens, whether on the camera, or in my pocket. The image quality is very decent, sharp enough and good colour, good enough for most purposes. Focusing speed appears to average, I suspect mainly becuse this is an older lens design. The newer 17mm, f1.8 is likely better image qualitywise, but its not a pancake . Its just about the most useful Olympus pancake lens. I do have the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 as well, and that one is a touch bigger and less wide, but its does give consistently sharper/better images. If you can live with 20mm vs 17mm, that woud be the better buy, though at a higher price.

Great Lens

Just bought a 17mm f2.8 lens, photos are amazing, colors are awesome, I use it with a PEN E-PM2 and the pictures are fantastic, it delivers beautifully soft defocused backgrounds, I do a lot of orchids and flowers shots, and the colors are amazing. A very compact lens with and amazing power, if you want a small compact lens for your PEN or OM-D, you can't go wrong, I glad I added it to my collection of lenses. I highly recommend it.

Not perfect, but very good

This lens is all about the size. It's small, and on my E-P1 I love it. I now take my camera with me everywhere, and it even fit in my jacket. (That's not the case with my other camera with its L-lenses. This lens is great for working around, streetshooting with more. It doesn't focus very fast, but I can live with that. I get great pictures, sharp with good colors.

Great lens. Sharp and light weight.

Great lens and a must have for the E-P1 in my opinion. The lens is sharp (more so than the E-P1 kit lens). The perfect companion for the E-P1. Note: This lens does not ship with the View finder attachment that comes with the 17mm E-P1 kit.
