I'm loving this camera! I purchased this camera because I wanted a small compact camera that I could take with me everyday. The images are great and I love the B&W images it produces.

I am a long-time fan of Olympus cameras and lenses, having started with an OM1 over 40 years ago. I eventually moved to Nikon DSLRs, but the weight of just one body and a couple of lenses took away all of the enjoyment, and I stopped using them and relied on just an iPhone, which I always had with me. The Pen F isn’t a new body, but I discovered it a few months ago when I decided I wanted more than my phone camera. I’m frankly still learning all of its capabilities, but am extremely pleased with it. I love the retro look, and the materials and quality are first-class. I paired it with the 12-40 pro zoom, and now have all of the flexibility and quality of my DSLR at a fraction of the weight. Photography is once again enjoyable.

The compact and versatile Pen F has proven to be a marvelous travel camera when paired with the M. Zuiko 14-42 f/3.5-5.6 IIR zoom lens. That combination has twice traveled to Europe with me. The zoom range mimics the 28-85mm lens I used to keep on my film SLR. The Pen F body is shipped with the tiny FL-LM3 flash in its own carrying bag. Often as not, the flash rides fastened to the camera shoulder strap, reminiscent of the days when I kept 35mm film cans taped to the strap for quick reloads. The rugged Pen F has always done double duty as a technical camera in my profession, in the field and in the lab. In field work, using primes, zooms, or macro, as needed, light and compact equipment is especially welcome. Rugged, reliable, light and compact - reason enough to have two.

Fantastic camera, excellent form and ergonomics especially with the accessory grip. Its very responsive, and of very high quality. I expect to keep the camera for many years, because its image quality is excellent. The creative options are nice too...its great to see the image in the field at the time of exposure instead of on the computer screen. The more I use it, the more I love it! Highly recommended!

Superb camera, sophisticated multifaceted modes. Perhaps the WORST user manual ever! I have scolded Olympus for their terribly written, poorly organized documentation. They should hire an accomplished user guide writer to do it right.

My first 4/3 camera. O bought this camera as a travel and walk around camera. I own a DSLR but wanted something that was much easier to carry around for travel. The build quality and aesthetics are outstanding. Steep learning curve for the menus but after one week I'm getting used to it. One of the best camera body purchases I've ever made. Bought it with the Zuiko 12-40mm F2.8 PRO lens which blew me away when I looked at pictures on the screen. Fantastic camera and lens combination!

A beautiful combination of form & function. Coupled with select Olympus & Panasonic lenses, it has redefined, for me, the joy of photography.

The review title says it all. I rented an Olympus M1.ii and shot a few thousand frames with it for a blues festival and was very impressed with it's features. But I still prefer the Pen-F and the way it handles.

Works great with 40-150 pro. I have larger hands and so far I dont' think i need the accessory grip. Has a few quirks but can be customized, if u dont like the way something is setup, there is generally a workaround. I like it better than my em 1 (old version), have tried a few legacy lenses and they work better than expected even without the on-chip phase detection AF.

I purchased the Pen-f and the 14-140 lens. After almost reading the manuel, and charging the battery, I started my photographic journey with my new camera. The camera body fit my hands well, and the electronic viewfinder was great. The first images were taken indoors in terrible lighting conditions. I reviewed those images and was happily surprised at the quality. After the initial images, i started photographing in under various conditions and changed the ISO to match the conditions. The Pen-F handled every condition beyond my expectations.

Is this the best camera you'll ever use? No but it's darn nice and it just feels good in the hands. I've been using my PEN-F for several weeks now and we have become good friends. I do find myself using the Monochrome settings a lot more than I thought I would. Quality images and the video is good for what it is. I use an external mic with an internal micro SD and mix in post if I want to capture better audio, but I will say the internal speakers are not bad. Would recommend this camera as your daily drop in your bag camera. Well built, but not weather proof. That's why you buy a D810 too.

I've been a photographer for about 50 years and got my first Nikon F (not an FTn) a little over 45 years ago. I've owned lots of cameras over the years and the only camera to give me as much of a thrill for shooting - and for the quality of images - was my Leica M2R that I owned in the early to mid 70's. What is significant about the new Pen-F is that once you have it set up (a bit of a chore), you rarely need to delve into the menu system other than what is presented on the screen. I am entranced with the level of control that I have, including adjusting the S-curve with the camera up to my eye. I shoot large JPEG and Camera Raw, just in case the JPEG doesn't look the way I want and so far about 99% of my JPEGs meet what I visualized and I don't need to touch the Raw. A truly great camera. I have two complaints: 1) there is no way to attach a tripod with a Pro lens without the grip - it is NOT optional; 2) the camera isn't weather-sealed. Well, neither was my Leica or my original Nikon F or my current Nikon D800E. But it would be nice. Beyond that, no complaints and only praises.

The reviews are everywhere and though mixed, I easily side with those who think Olympus got it right. I already owned an OMD E-M1 with lenses, and had been looking for a rangefinder style camera mostly for street shooting. The pen fits the bill very nicely. Love the viewfinder, the LCD, and all the controls. As a RAW shooter, I must admit that the filters are less appealing to me than to those who shoot JPG, but the monochrome opportunities are helpful at least for me to get a jump on how I might want to convert RAW images to monochrome. Some complain that the front dial digs into their finger. I don't feel it because my typical grip never even touches it. Not a problem for me. The new 20MP files are really nice and overall I'm enjoying processing them in Lightroom and the results I'm getting. I can live with the Four Thirds limitation with regard to low light shooting, especially with fast Olympus glass. The only reason I give the camera four stars and not five is because the camera is not weather sealed. I would have paid another hundred bucks for that. Despite this second limitation, I'd easily buy the camera again. Oh yeah, it's also extremely good looking!

This is a wonderful machine for street photography. Its EVF is bright and clear, and resolves without any noticeable jerkiness. Its sensor can function comfortable from ISO 80 to ISO 6400. Above that it loses resolution. But for a street camera, ISO 6400 normally is more than adequate, and even at higher ISO's resolution is acceptable if not ideal. Its only flaw is that there's no way to assign a button so you can force the camera to "sleep" and save battery power. You can assign a button to turn off the viewing screen, and, happily, you can turn the viewing screen inward so it's hidden and off. For those who don't insist on constant chimping that's good news. But there's no way to put the EVF to sleep. Minimum wait time for it to go to sleep on its own is a minute. That's too long. With any luck a future firmware upgrade will allow you to assign a button to force the camera to sleep. Olympus did that with the E-P1, and it was a lifesaver for street photographers.
