I got this camcorder for my dad as he was looking for one to film the granddaughter. I wanted to get him something simple and light to use and this camcorder perfectly matched my search. Before giving the camera to him I played with it for a while and was really impressed by the features and the video quality you get for the money. My only concern was the screen size and the still photos quality. If you want to use this for still photos make sure that you are outdoors or in a well lit indoor room. The video is good for normal filming and looked good in my HDTV. I would recommend this camera for those who just want a simple camcorder with good video quality without breaking the bank and the extra features you use once in a while.

The Panasonic HC-V100M High Definition Camcorder (Black) gets you out and recording HD video right now: just charge the battery and pop in an SD, SDHC or SDXC memory card and you're ready to start shooting. Full high definition video, long telephoto 34x zoom range and very compact form (2.1 x 2.4 x 4.5") make this HD camcorder irresistible. And you can keep shooting for a long time--the HC-V100M gives you up to 155 minutes of continuous recording time.
Power O.I.S. with Active mode is a high-quality optical hand-shake compensation function that's necessary for compact, lightweight camcorders. Because they're optical systems, there's no image degradation--original image quality captured by the lens remains intact, all the way from wide-angle to the longest telephoto zoom. The 32.5mm (equivalent in 35mm format) wide-angle lens is ideal for recording indoors or in tight spaces, especially when fitting both the subject and surrounding area into the frame. The wide-angle also produces beautiful images of wide landscapes and allows you to fit large groups of people into the frame.
The HC-V100M provides lots of user-friendly shooting controls, too. Panasonic's Intelligent Auto takes the guesswork out of shooting just about any setting. iA automatically sets the camera for the situation--you can focus on the moment without fussing with camera controls. Other features like Intelligent Scene Selector and Face Detection help you to record great video, without going to film school.
High definition video gives you vivid, lifelike, detailed images. It's also a format that will be compatible with computer systems for years to come. And, the high definition video recorded with the HC-V100M will look great on your HDTV, where every minute detail shows.
