I bought this camera to upgrade from my canon 60D that I've had for 8 years and I just love it for video. The full frame sensor along with the extensive video features including the v-log and superior ibs make this probably the best camera for the money. The biggest drawbacks would be the auto focus but in my work i never use it so it's a non issue, but also the audio recording only goes to -12 db which is not low enough in some cases and can be a problem. Overall, I love this camera, the image quality is spectacular, and the video features are amazing, I love the focus peaking, programing buttons for monitoring audio easier, wave form monitors, and exposer monitor, it gives me everything I could ever want in a compact video camera.

After shooting Pentax camera's for over 30 years I wanted to make a change to mirrorless and went with the Lumix S5. It offers the incredible built quality of my Pentax K-1 but in a much smaller and lighter package. It has full weather sealing and the image quality is exceptional. I'm amazed at how good the pictures look at higher ISO's. Even at ISO 6400 the pictures are excellent and usable with little processing required. Coming over from Pentax I've had no issues with the auto focus, it may not be at Canon's level but it's darn good and very accurate for my needs shooting landscape and street photography. I couldn't be happier with this camera.

Exceeded Expectations - if you try to use it like you would many of the more popular cameras for video and photography it can at times be underwhelming, but once you learn how everything works and the many unique features it brings it often excels far beyond cameras both within and well above the price point. Video and photos for example looks pretty bad at 3200 ISO compared to 640, but once you hit 4000 and that high gain circuitry kicks in it?s astonishing how clear photos and video become. My only complaints lie in the button and switch placement - the on switch is in a location that I still forget, the focus selector is almost too out of the way, and it?s hard to feel for the ISO button. Less of a big deal and not so much Panasonic?s fault - it?s virtually useless with a gimbal and external screen combo - there are issues with responsiveness to gimbal controls with both attached, the record button doesn?t always work, so on - but these issues also occurred when testing a Sony and a Nikon - though they are issues that would need to be addressed in the firmware of the camera and not the gimbal or recorder.

This camera is beautiful. Battery life is pretty good at around 2 hours. The image quality is amazing and there are so many useful tools built in for filmmaking. Has a good weight to it which makes me feel secure when I?m holding it. The viewfinder is also amazing, a good improvement from the gh5?s. The only complaints I have is the micro hdmi and 30 min record limits, however I have a small rig adapter installed for the hdmi and the record limits can be exceeded if shooting externally I believe.

Excellent camera! I do mainly photography. This outfit takes awesome photos! It is a pleasure to use. I have a Nikon z6ii I purchased from Adorama and I like the S5 more for what I do. The lenses are sharp and focusing is just as good as my Nikon. If you are looking for as easy to use and great quality camera, just buy it at the current price. You won't be disappointed!

A nice compliment to my S1R. The smaller size with the kit lens makes this a better everyday carry option for me. The 12-60mm lens is be a no-brainer (at just $300), when purchased as a bundle.

I use it mostly for photography and completely enjoy it. Auto focus is not an issue in photography and not horrible in video.

This is a great camera although I am a canon user ,I must say that this camera for the price you can't beat it !so many features ,5.9k raw with atomos ninja or black magic video assist! Even the internal recording video or pictures are amazing. USB-C charging the list goes on and I suspect that more firmware updates will add more features maybe all-i internal recording it does have two card slots Uhs-i and uhs-ii and really the uhs-ii slot is not being used for it's highspeed potential so let's see what Panasonic has in store for the future of this powerhouse of a camera. By the way adoroma prices are the best on the net...

From the straight out of camera colors and low light performance to the handling the S5 is probably one of the most underrated mirrorless cameras on the market. Especially for stills photography. Great ergonomics with customizable buttons, a nice vario angle screen and great compact 1.8 primes. The stills autofocus is spot on and super quick...Video autofocus while not perfect is very usable once you learn the different settings and adjustment. The lens selection is growing and with Sigma and Leica (though expensive) L Mount lenses you do have choice. Menu interface is modern, sharp and easy to understand. An entire kitchen sink worth of video codecs. The EVF could be a bit better in bright sunlight and the video and continuous autofocus could stand to be improved. Though by no means unusable. Battery life could stand to be improved somewhat though I carry spares always.

The Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 has fantastic features, particularly the stabilization. I am very impressed with the smooth video it captures without the use of a gimbal! It's ability for full range photo and video is amazing and I highly recommend this camera. Because the camera is so loaded it will take you a bit to fully learn and utilize it, but it will be worth the time and you will be very happy with the results!
