This review is really for the combination of the Clutch and my Ricoh GR IV. The Clutch is just too big for that camera. Adding the bottom metal piece that attaches to the camera adds noticeable height and weight. The top attachment doesn't fit the camera, so you have to use a separate tether (in fairness, PD does note this on their compatibility page, so it wasn't a surprise). The material quality on the Clutch is good, and it seems like it would work well on a slightly bigger camera. It just doesn't work well with the GR IV.

Easy to install and now I can securely hold my Sony A7CII without mistakenly dropping my expensive camera. Worked with my smallrig L grip!!

Fantastic option for those wanting to have a better grip on their camera. Tightens and loosens easily, but never by itself.

High quality build, but execution is mid. For average sized hands, this is uncomfortable on an X-T5 with a pancake lens. Even on smaller bodies, the inconvenience from blocking the battery/SD door with the plate seems less than thoughtful. I'll definitely buy from PD again, but this seems like a miss.

I bought the clutch over a year ago for x100f. I appreciate the design and function of being able to release my grip and still holds the camera. Very sturdy and confident of excellent construction. Yet, what a pain to access the card and battery slot. I'm surprised I haven't lost the tool in the grass yet, thinking of having to shell out 10.00 plus s/h for a replacement is crazy. Ditch the specialized screw for a tried and true no tool one. I'd buy an updated screw if available.

Bought ages ago but finally reviewing. Clutch was very comfy for both my Sony a7500 and A7r3. Quick release and easy stragp adjustment meant, I could hand it over to my wife and she'd adjust quickly. Overall very pleased.

Big fan of peak design, but I absolutely hate this product. It's surprising to see many good ratings on because I find it to be completely unusable. First of all, it blocks access to the camera battery compartment which makes it a pain to use even if it was easy to attach and detach from the camera. But this is the second problem. It's a nightmare to attach and detach from the camera. You have to pop out a little tool and unscrew it, and if you're trying to semi presently remove it from the camera you had to fiddle with the keyring or the impossible little fastener to get it off. Totally unworkable. I hate it.

Not enough finger strap adjustment - I am going it will stretch. Also received an everyday 5 litre sling I had requested (as a gift), and O love it - 4 stars

I use the Spider holster and I have 3 of these to help protect my cameras while I'm shooting events. They are a crucial part of my gear set as by nature, the spider system does not prevent my gear from hitting the ground if I let go.

First time buying and using this product. Works well with my Canon cameras, providing a secure grip to my hand.

I added a second camera and wanted the versatility offered by the clutch.

Doesn't sit where you want it in a Sony camera. It slips up over my knuckles if I want to put my hand where it needs to be to use the camera. If I set the geip to be perfect the grip makes me have my hand to far forward to hold the camera grip. Technically it's not peaks fault. Sony needs to move the metal piece backwards more towards the screen side of the camera so hand grips can be used comfortably. I wouldn't buy this off you have a Sony. Mine is an A7RIII

I rather like most of Peak Designs stuff, I've got quite a lot of it at this point. Now I wouldn't say that my hands are much larger than the average, and I've tried a few different configurations with my Sony A7R V but I just can't get the clutch to be completely comfortable. It either feels snug and secure, which results in a slight pinch near the upper eyelet, or it's too loose to be useful, or my hand is secured in a way that I have to strain and contort my finger a little to hit the shutter or the dials. Overall the build feels fantastic and durable, and if you're someone with small hands, you'll probably have a great time. For me, I find myself using my other restraints far more.

I use this with my often with my Slide. The quick release on the system makes changing the setup a breeze. My hand is pretty big and this fits very snug but the Ellie PD bracket moved the attachment over enough to make extra room for my big hand.

Excellent product for me. I'm an experienced photographer and I used to wear the classic Nikon neck strap. I've recently changed all my DSLR stuff for a more modern (and LIGHTER) mirrorless system (Nikon Z5 II). This time, I didn't like the original neck strap, so I started looking around. Peak Design offer a very interesting, well thought and designed stuff. In particular, I chose to give a try to the Clutch, and I'll never look back. I'm in love with it and, after a short adaptation period, I use this wrist strap only. It flips in and out of my bag wtih the camera attached in a matter of seconds and without the hussle given by long neck strap. It's well designed and rounds perfectly over my hand helping to get a secure and comfortable grip. I use it with my pancake lens, a 24-200 and even with the 100-500. This clutch has totally and definitely replacing any neck stuff. Highly recommended from my side.

Terrible design for a Pro photographer... think about it. In order to do something simple such as change a battery, its designed to have to use a special, proprietary tool to remove the plate... UHHH, NO!! Absolutely NOT pro photographer friendly. We are often in harsh conditions and in a hurry. The last thing I want to have to worry about is whether or not I have a special tool to do a battery change. It's absolutely absurd.

A great option to secure camera to one hand without dangling. Easy adjustments depending on how tight or loose you prefer.

Bought the PD Clutch for my handheld rig used for filming weddings. As most in my line of work, I'm constantly tweaking and changing everything on my rig but not having a clutch hand strap was something so simple yet glaringly missing before. PD's Clutch is comfortable and obviously made with quality. Looking forward to using this to finish the wedding season comfortably with more peace of mind with my camera in hand.

This is a top class product. I've been using a good quantity Canon hand strap for years, which worked well, but it restricted hand movement to work the controls and the bottom camera connection was bulky. The Clutch eliminates those problems very well. The other huge bonus is the integrated tripod plate making it so much quicker to use the camera both on and off a tripod. I use it with a Leofoto Poseidon tripod and the Canon EOS R7. The bonus is an excellent online video to show how to correctly set it up and use.

I have 2 of these and have purchased 3 more for friends and recommend to all my serious-camera friends. The Clutch allows you to comfortably hold your camera in your shooting hand without fatigue. Adjustable and easy to handle.

Completely changes how it feels to carry my heavier camera. One problem I found when using heavier cameras is that your hand will get tired from gripping the camera for an extended period of time. If I use the Clutch (L-plate) with my Lumix G90, I can completely relax my hand when my arm is dangling and my camera will not fall out of my hands allowing me to take a break. I think this works because the G90 has a pronounced grip at the front so the weight of the camera and the Clutch strap twists my fingers around the grip without any effort. I do have some small issues with the product though. The G90 happens to have a mounting hole that is quite biased towards the front of the camera. This means that the Clutch plate sticks out from the front quite a bit. I also decided to get the L-plate variant instead of the I-plate (against Peak Design's suggestion), so the tip of the plate that anchors the strap also sticks out from the front of the grip. I actually mount the plate at an angle so that this "tip" peeks less from the front, but obviously is not as a satisfying look. Another small issue is that the model information sticker at the bottom of the camera has shifted quite a bit from its home. I suspect it can shift a little bit each time I re-install the clutch. Regardless, I would still use this product, as I love the single-handed operation getting this into and out of the Capture on my belt. To new users: after repeatedly removing and installing the plate on my camera to switch batteries, I think you don't need to tighten the screw too tightly.

I bought the clutch about 5 years ago and have regularly used it on expeditions for hours on end. My gear is a Canon 7D with 24-105 and 70-200 EF lenses so it needs to carry some weight. I love the way it is easy and fast to adjust and that ghe back of your hand does not get hooked ip if sweaty or wet. It is very low profile so when using a tripod it stays out of the way. I noticed today that the strap through the canon body mount has frayed to a point where it probably needs to be replaced. I'll look at a steel ring for the next one to mount as maybe the sharp edges have caused this. This has taken some beating with snow, seawater, freshwater and heat all subjected to it. The rest of the strap is as new so the longevity is there. Recommend it to all DSLR users.

I bought this product a long time ago. It's a very good product of very good quality. However, I stopped using it because I use a battery pack on my R5, and when I want to shoot in vertical orientation, it's in the way. It's not as comfortable. Could you develop a solution to allow shooting both horizontally and vertically?"

Bought the L-plate version for my Olympus OM-D E-M10, and it's a really useful addition. To be honest, it doesn't fit exactly - the socket in the camera itself is offset towards the front - but it makes little difference. As always with PD products, the Clutch is really high quality and robust.

Wish there was a middle of the road version. Regular (DSLR) is a bit too large, Micro (Mirrorless) is too small. Would work well with medium sized Mirrorless like Sony A7 series cameras with smaller lenses. Otherwise, it works very well, having a Capture plate on the bottom is the best part. Makes it easier to transition from strap carry (using Falcam Capture Clip attached to carry strap) to tripod. The anchor link can get in the way of the tripod clamping area if you are not careful. Not too much of an issue on smaller ballheads, but could see how it could be a problem on larger ones.

A hand grip camera strap probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of photography. Although, having a comfortable and reliable grip is just as important as knowing how to use your camera. Owning a quality hand grip camera strap will benefit even tho...
