Used Pentax D HD FA 15-30mm f/2.8 ED SDM WR Lens

I've had this lens for about a month now and I really can't complain. I obviously bought it for the wide angle use, especially 15mm. There are a few less expensive prime options at 15mm. After shooting with this lens though I'm glad I spent a little more for the zoom. I've found even the 24-30mm range to be incredibly useful. It's sharp, well built, and fun to have on the camera. It's heavy, and bigger than my Pentax 24-70, but if you have other Pentax full frame zooms you'll be able to handle it.

This is a terrific lens. I recently shot family photos using the D HD FA 15-30, the FA 31, and the FA 77. It is very capable of performing alongside them, if you can handle the size and weight. It rests well on the tripod. The real quality is as a landscape lens, a great complement to the K-1.

I used this lens for real estate mainly. The distortion is very well controlled and the sharpness was spot on. The pentax quality weather sealing really puts this ahead of the tamron model.

This lens is replacing a 16-50mm f2.8 Pentax lens that has become my favorite lens by far. The new lenses 15-30mm Full Frame format gives me, not only, access to the full sensor area of my D-1 camera, but more image even when cropped in my older D-20 camera. It is a bit heavier than the 16-50mm but makes beautiful pictures. Focus seems faster and more accurate than the lens it replaced. The big fat lens cap just does fit in my shirt pocket. By the way, this lens has a big piece of glass up front. Everybody thinks I'm the cruise photographer on the ship. I'm completely satisfied with the 15-30mm purchase. Thank You Adorama!

I haven't used it much but my preliminary results are superb on K-1!! It is big and heavy but I am used to with heavy lenses as my Tokina AT-X PRO 80-200mm F2.8 is heavier then this one. Builtin hood is nice for protecting the front element. Can not use a standard filter mounts though. Not a big negative for me as I am shooting in RAW. I would recommend this glass to anyone who wants to go for a wide zoom.

Sharp, with CA well controlled. Heavy, weighs over a kilogram. Requires additional investment on a filter system.

Before ordering this lens I expected it to be big, but man I had no idea how bulky it actually would be! Anyhow I went out a couple times and took some test shoots and have to say it is an amazing performer. For everyone who can spare the money, it's one of the best pentax lenses in this focal range
