This lens is my go-to for anything outdoors due to its excellent weather sealing. I take it hiking on a regular basis as well as out for landscapes with my tripod for longer exposures with ND filters. I have found it to be extremely sharp with very fast auto focus, and it's never let me down. I've also been out with it in moderate rain and heavy snow with no additional protection, and it had never had so much as a hiccup. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great all-purpose lens for their Pentax APS-C system.

I use this DA 16-85 on my K-70. This lens comes up with very very sharp images from wide to telephoto end. I was worried about its performance in low light conditions due to the f-stop starting at 3.5, but thanks to K-70’s good performance in high ISO, I enjoy taking photos under any conditions so far. This lens is relatively expensive, but I am happy with its performance and build quality.*If you prefer manual focusing, you may struggle with focus because the focus ring doesn’t stop turning at both side (you can turn the ring endlessly) and doesn’t have a distance scale.

The lens performed as expected without any issues in a recent trip to the Sierra's when mounted on the Pentax KP. The lens was purchased for travel, and for the weather sealing for which Pentax has become known. I would recommend this lens and the Pentax line.

I was looking for zoom lens with a little more zoom ratio than the very usual 18 -55 mm. This lens fitted perfectly the requirement and proved to deliver very decent quality pictures with Pentax K-70 body.

I mostly photograph dogs at dog parks, community events, art and music festivals and found color. In all cases I never know exactly what the ideal prime lens might be so I need the flexibility of a reliable, and accurate weather resistant autofocus AND affordable zoom. 95% of time I’m shooting outdoors. This Pentax 16-85mm lens resides on my K3ii most the time. My K70 is packing whatever secondary lens I anticipate needing, a telephoto or ultra wide angle zoom or a nifty fifty or a macro lens.

With the reviews this lens has I assume I got a bad one. Some people even commented about the colors. The one I got I had to shot 1 stop dark. Colors didn't pop at all. The 17-70mm F4 I was replacing was better so I returned this 16-85mm

Reality hit me earlier this year that several of my older Pentax lenses are not doing me any favors. I ditched them and decided the first lens I'd buy from Adorama would be the 16-85mm as a walk around lens. It seemed to fit the bill with my shooting interests and would be a better option than my kit lens. I got the lens in plenty of time time to take to Las Vegas for the 2017 SEMA show. Four eight hour days of walking the show floor in tight quarters with thousands of attendees made me happy I'd planned to travel light. My primary camera is a Pentax K-5IIs and the combo was excellent for both tight shooting indoors and the bright outdoor displays. The lens handles well and the K-5IIs helps the lens in low light situations. The wider angle available vs. my kit lens was perhaps the best feature at SEMA. I didn't do any practice with the lens before leaving town so my first hand-on was at the show. The few errors I made early on were easily corrected after I realized my mistakes. I could not be happier with this lens and I see it living on the camera most of the time.

Excellent lens for route lanscape photography. More wide angle view than most zooms with 5X Zoom which is plenty for typical Landscape photography.

I love this lens. Kudos to Pentax. Sharp from corner to corner and silent, accurate focusing. The range covers most of my needs. Well built and solid, this has become my favorite walk around lens. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it would be fantastic if it were faster, but, then again, it would have to be bigger and more expensive.

If a variable aperture is against your wish to buy this lense, just forget it. Yes, this isn't constant aperture and it's a little bit slow BUT in every other aspect this lense is just brilliant!! Sharp corner to corner, compact, amazing build quality, very nice feeling when you hold it, good range, 16mm is really useful. I'm really proud having this lense. RECOMMEND!
