Still learning to use it but on a few of my first couple uses I managed to get nice, crystal-clear night shots with no star trailing. Interestingly it didn't seem to work multiple times in a row; I recalibrated it (in the precision location setting, not the more general GPS setting) and it then performed well again. Four stars because of this issue, and that the successor is already announced but not available, and that most of the current Pentax DSLRs have GPS built in, making this extraneous.

The blinking bright blue light in the dark places this is always used will be annoying. I suggest black tape as soon as you pull it out. I've never had any issue with the camera recognizing and connecting to sats.

Pentax O-GPS1 works as advertised. Calibrates easily and prevents star tracking on exposures up to 5 minutes. Also gives locations of where photos were captured.

works very well with the k70. in the astrophoto mode, it uses the anti shake feature to guide the camera sensor with the stars to keep them pin pointed over a long exposure to reveal many many stars. also adds gps data to the exif data in pictures. very cool.

Very no-frills but it does the job. The power status is a bit ambiguous. You push a button to turn it on but there is no "power LED". You just see the lamp for the satellite lock blink.

Does what it says and makes it easier to recall where shots were taken. A bit awkward to have to calibrate it each use though

I got this for a 38 day trip to Europe. I wanted to be able to find where I took each image. It worked perfect. Battery life is very good. Each image taken with GPS available loads into Adobe Lightroom and pops up as expected on the map function as was my goal. Lightroom then displays what city and country etc. Love it!
