Elinchrom users dont buy this product - even the 7mm version.

The base shaft on this item is larger than 7mm, making it impossible to use properly with Elinchrom lights. If you're familiar with these umbrellas, half of the shaft is removable, which is great with most brands of lights, because you can mount your strobe on the non removable shaft with the flash tube inside of the umbrella and then you don't have 15" or so of the shaft sticking out the back end of your light. The only part of this version that is 7mm is the removable shaft, which means that when you use it with Elinchrom lights, you can't even get your flash tube inside of the umbrella or the diffusion sock.

Big, soft light source, not super durable

I love how easy this modifier is to set up. It's light weight, and great for jobs outside of the studio. But, mine fell on day when the wind blew too hard for a sandbag to hold it down, and two arms broke. This is the second one I've purchased.

Please note that this model does not come with gold and silver discs. To mount shoe mount flash units to the SoftLighter II, a shoe mount light stand or umbrella adapter will be required. When using shoe mount flash units, they must be set to Manual mode as the entire flash will be housed inside the umbrella, unless the flash unit is equipped with a remote sensor.

Designed specifically for strobe use, this SoftLighter II umbrella is not recommended for use with hot lights or modeling lights exceeding 250 watts.
